Let me tell you how I found this book. I wanted to find something opposite to stories where this big guy pins a short woman to the wall, an all-hero, etc. etc. etc. I wanted to read a story where a woman is dominant, Female Dom literature. While I did not find a lot, this book is where I started, and whoa, this was my first audiobook!
In the story, we meet a young monk and a strong, big, older warrior-woman. 🗡️ While the woman is all in charge, we can see how the monk is developing, changing, and growing, which is heartbreaking at some point as you discover his traumas. This book gave me a thought on religious trauma that one can experience within some strict religious groups, fed with misogyny as well. I also want to tell you that this is an example of when men suffer from it as well.
The monk uses magic to help complete the task they were initially sent to complete.
This book shows a very slow-burning romance between the characters that starts with tension and secret fantasies. I loved how the female character was showing healthy behaviour. I really love the behaviour of both and their cooperation. I am really all for these two and hope to continue the series!
I would say if you like cozy fantasy, a slow-burning romance story, a female in charge (and a constantly blushing monk - as appears to be my preference as well!), then perhaps you might like it. 🖤 I hope you like one horse and one room situations 🤭
