“Mark Edwards always delivers! Taut, gripping, scary and original - a fabulous read!” - Robert Bryndza, #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author

A beautiful home. A loving wife. And in-laws to die for.

Gemma Robinson comes into Elliot’s life like a whirlwind, and they marry and settle into his home. When she asks him if her parents can come to stay for a couple of weeks, he is keen to oblige - he just doesn’t quite know what he’s signing up for.

The Robinsons arrive with Gemma’s sister, Chloe, a mysterious young woman who refuses to speak or leave her room. Elliot starts to suspect that the Robinsons are hiding a dark secret. And then there are the scars on his wife’s body that she won’t talk about....

As Elliot’s in-laws become more comfortable in his home, encroaching on all aspects of his life, it becomes clear that they have no intention of moving out. To protect Gemma, and their marriage, Elliot delves into the Robinsons’ past. But is he prepared for the truth?

From the two million copy bestselling author comes a tale about the chilling consequences of welcoming strangers into your home.

I bought this on the day of release and started listening straight away and I wasn't disappointed.

In The Magpies we had the neighbours from hell but in this book Mr Edwards brings us the in-laws from hell and the scenario is so scarily believable. He always writes such memorable characters but what a nasty, vile pair Lizzie and Jeff are! Elliott, on the other hand, I loved. As a scientist he is obviously intelligent but also hard working, charming and just lovely. And he's a cat-lover! And his house, which he has renovated with love sounds wonderful, though it is situated on Cuckoo Lane!

The book hurtles along, and I didn't want to stop listening. There is a claustrophobic, menacing feel to it which builds throughout the book. There are all the usual twists and turns, and a terrific ending …. that last sentence!!

James Langton is a terrific narrator, adding so much to my enjoyment of a brilliant book. Highly recommended.

Be careful who you invite to stay!

I guess it was a good story, kept me listening and intrigued…but couldn’t help feeling so sorry for all the awful things happening to the main character… I actually felt stressed and anxious listening to what was happening next!! Some will enjoy, great narrator, but too depressing for me overall.

Stressful listen

Mark Edward's is a master story teller!! I was looking forward to this, his latest book, and was not disappointed. The story unfurled slowly like a rose, but as it did, the bloom that was revealed was as far away from that which was expected, as it could possibly be....

Gripping
