About this listen

“Mark Edwards always delivers! Taut, gripping, scary and original - a fabulous read!” - Robert Bryndza, #1 Wall Street Journal bestselling author

A beautiful home. A loving wife. And in-laws to die for.

Gemma Robinson comes into Elliot’s life like a whirlwind, and they marry and settle into his home. When she asks him if her parents can come to stay for a couple of weeks, he is keen to oblige - he just doesn’t quite know what he’s signing up for.

The Robinsons arrive with Gemma’s sister, Chloe, a mysterious young woman who refuses to speak or leave her room. Elliot starts to suspect that the Robinsons are hiding a dark secret. And then there are the scars on his wife’s body that she won’t talk about....

As Elliot’s in-laws become more comfortable in his home, encroaching on all aspects of his life, it becomes clear that they have no intention of moving out. To protect Gemma, and their marriage, Elliot delves into the Robinsons’ past. But is he prepared for the truth?

From the two million copy bestselling author comes a tale about the chilling consequences of welcoming strangers into your home.

I am a huge fan of Mark Edwards and came across him after reading follow you home and the devil's work. the narration is always really good by James Langton but I often find all femal e characters kind of sound the same but I guess that's due to a male doing the voices.

without giving away any spoilers I found it very easy to guess what was going on but this might be due to me already understanding Mark Edwards type of writing, I found the male main character to be quite weak and very clueless (the chapter in the restaurant gives too much away)

I don't regret listening to the story but it definitely isn't as good as marks other work

my least favourite Mark Edwards story

Utterly brilliant. My life has been virtually on hold for the last 3 days while I listened to this book - I just couldn't turn it off. The plot was original and moved at the perfect pace. The ending didnt disappoint either. One of the best books I've read in years. Cannot recommend enough.

phenomenal!

I’ve always loved Mark Edwards books, the only downside is that he can’t write them quickly enough for me!

I can't recommend this novel enough. It was really suspenseful and a really brilliant story. Great characters and keeps you guessing to the end. The narrative was first class and well delivered. The author really keeps you in suspense and the story gradually builds up. Great unexpected ending and really truly page turner.

Riveting and brilliant

This book is every nightmare I have had about my in-laws souped up on a large bowl of steroids.

After Gemma has a look round Elliot’s garden, and an accident puts them on the path to marriage, her parents come to stay. For a long time.

Mark Edwards is brilliant. Having stumbled across him last year, I can’t get enough of his writing and would read anything he put out.

This didn’t disappoint. Thankfully it is far away from my in-law situation, but it can’t help but make you think.

What I am also stating to love is trying to find hints and ode’s to other books he has written.

I would definitely recommend.
