Publisher's Summary

This is the age of addiction, a condition so epidemic, so all-encompassing and ubiquitous, that unless you are fortunate enough to be an extreme case, you probably don't know that you have it. What unhealthy habits and attachments are holding your life together? Are you unconsciously dependent on food? Bad relationships? A job that doesn't fulfill you? Numb, constant perusal of your phone, looking for what? My qualification for writing this book is not that I am better than you, it's that I am worse. I am an addict, addicted to drugs, alcohol, sex, money, love and fame.

The program in Recovery has given Russell Brand freedom from all addictions, and it will do the same for you.

This system offers nothing less than liberation from self-centredness, a new perspective, freedom from the illusion of suffering for anyone who is willing to take the necessary steps.

    "Everyone should read this book"

This book was heartbreaking, uplifting and inspiring at the same time. I'd been looking forward to its release and it didn't disappoint. Although I wouldn't consider myself an additct in the obvious junkie/alcoholic way, I've always felt that something was missing. Russell makes you consider how you live your life and your drives in ways I haven't heard before, even though I've read a number of self help/yoga/meditation books. I don't think he gets the credit he's due for trying to change people's life for the better. I'm glad he's found happiness with his new wife as well.

Narration added nuance that may be missed in reading the book.

    "Brilliant book"

As an addict in active recovery, this book helped me refocus on the areas of my life that still need work. That will always need work.

It's honest, captivating, worthwhile and I recommend to fellow addicts wholeheartedly.

    Thanks Russell.

    "GREAT LISTEN"

I loved this book and I loved Russell's narration. It is honest and I found it comforting to hear someone else speak out loud about what we all sometimes feel. Ironically, I think I will keep listening to this book over and over! He is so honest about himself and his life and I find that a very generous act. After listening to this it is impossible to ignore your own feelings and behaviour. I think this book could be a comfort to anyone who has anxiety, because ultimately I think that is the cause of a lot of addictive behaviour. I would like to think he would go on to narrate more books - he has great communication.

    "Surprisingly profound"

This is a beautifully put together book and although I read mainly to enhance my understanding of serious addictions I found it to be relevant to anyone who would like to evolve their thinking and unconscious patterning. Russell's added insight is really helpful and the afded information on his website is very helpful. This is a truly inspiring listen. Highly recommend.

"I cannot praise this book highly enough."

An excellently written, captivatingly narrated account of what it is to be human. Russell Brand's insightful and highly personal autobiography is nothing short of inspiring eye-opening and revelatory. An excellent read, all the better for being narrated by Brand himself in his inimitable expressive, intelligent and captivating style.

    "This book will save lives"

This ruthlessly honest, hilarious, heart wrenching, beautifully worded & intelligent book has (in my opinion) the ability to save lives.

This book normalizes and de-stagmatizes the in built processes that make humans so apt to self destruct. Reading or listening to this might just enable people who would benefit (which is most if not all) and be potentially lifesaving to thosin a spiral of dangerous addiction to take these brave steps.
