Summary

He’s fighting for justice while she fights for her life.

With his daughter lying in the hospital, struck down in a reckless hit-and-run, the only thing Jon Reznick can do is wait - and plot his revenge. Not satisfied with the slow-moving police investigation, he starts his own manhunt.

He discovers that the car belongs to a high-ranking diplomat whose interests are closely tied to those of the United States government, and this man may not be what he appears. The FBI wants Reznick to back down, but the more information Jon digs up, the more questions he finds. Was it a simple accident, or is there more to it? How many young women’s lives has this man ruined? Lauren’s life hangs in the balance, and Jon must get answers, no matter the cost - to him or the government.

With the help of a dedicated NYPD detective who has suspicions of her own, as well as FBI Assistant Director Martha Meyerstein, Jon Reznick will have to fight for his daughter while she fights for her life.

Another cracking book.

Reznick and Meyerstien up to their usual business. Fast and full of action as you'd expect. slight twist near the end which I'm hoping will continue into the next book.

Fast paced and full of action...

So glad to see Jon Reznick back again. I think this is my favorite J B Turner series. This is book 6 in the Reznick series, each can be listened to as a stand alone. I would suggest listening to the first book for background of this character but it isn't necessary. My guess is that if this is the first one you listen to you may want to go back for the rest. The publisher's summary gives more than enough information so I won't expand on the story. This is well written , light and fast paced. Plenty of action, a few surprises (what the bad guys are really up to) and completely enjoyable! Reznick's daughter has come a long way since she beginning of the series. It seems Mr Turner may have some future plans to make her a more active character. Jeffrey Kafer does an excellent job narrating. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. If you found this review helpful please indicate so. Thank You.

hard hit review

no twist, no turns, nothing gripping. Very predictable from start to finish. no sex, no romance,. not even a regrettable kiss in any of the books in the series.

Just What I've Been Needing....Action!!

So before I say anything too much, soooo proud of Reznick's daughter. Sad, but in these days of Epstein, Covid 19 and everything so topsy turvy, this was just what I needed.... straight out action, right over wrong and a clear dynamic of growth. I truly am getting tired of the female with too many questions, talking while missing cues. That didn't happen here. Whoot whoot!!

Doesn’t Make Sense

John Reznick violates many laws and still able to work with federal and local law enforcement agencies. The rant against diplomatic immunity ignores why the U.S. agrees with those rules. That international agreements is the only protection for U.S.diplomats in some countries. A country that refuses to remove a diplomat so declared runs the risk that the U.S. will refuse to recognize his diplomatic mission subjecting the person to our laws. This is a fast-passed action adventure in which Reznick goes after a Ukrainian diplomat who ran down Reznick’s daughter. Reznick flies off the handle when the diplomat sends flowers to the hospital. A running battle ensues between Reznick and the diolomat. In the process, Reznick discover’s the diplomat’s other illegal activities.

too repetitive. Goe on and on about his daughter

repititive and nonsensical rebels as matter of course, even when it's stupid and irrational too do so. this series has really gone downhill!

Running Scared

JR is brilliant. Nevers steps back, never questions his motivations, and never apologizes to anyone, including himself. He is honesty and integrity with a Glock 19 and now his daughter is threatened by the worst kind of bad guy. The bad guy that he has promised not to "damage" or even expose to the light. Should have used capture and exposure of grampa Brutkin to torment bad guy Brutkin. Love the hacker, still waiting for the surprise with this guy, though.

Premise is stupid...

Ok. Your daughter is injured by a diplomat. But do you use all your covert planning skills to stealthily get revenge? No. You break in, on camera and beat up innocent body guards but don't lay a finger in the perp while making idol threats. Stupid premise. No thought of begging there for your injured daughter. Horrible plot.

I didn't want it to end.

Each one seems better than the last. I can't wait until the next one. Should there not be a next one... I'll be over here crying in my hard lemonade. If you missed the previous books of this series and decide to start with this one you will love it nonetheless. It can certainly hold it own. However, you will be listening to them next anyway. I have 800+ books in my library this series and/or this book is in my top ten.
