Her diverse array of techniques comes from her own experience, as well as her research in psychology, neuroscience, nutrition, and mindfulness. Herman begins with a brief explanation of what anxiety is, different types of anxiety, and different manifestations. I was surprised to learn that over 300 million people suffer from an anxiety disorder and distressed to learn that less than 37% of them are treated. For anyone untreated, this book is a great place to start. Herman discusses breathing techniques, grounding techniques, listening to music at certain frequencies, creating mindful mornings, better dietary choices, creating boundaries, volunteering, and much more. Speaking of dietary choices, Herman makes the solid case that the “gut-brain axis” can contribute to well-being or anxiety depending on what foods you eat. When anxious, many people go to comfort foods, which is exactly the wrong play. The book’s tone and narration are supportive.

What an amazing book this is. We all carry around a certain amount of stress and anxiety that we have grown accustomed to living with, but what if it didn't have to be that way? Natelie Herman has made that possible with this lifechanging audiobook. She provides you with the tools to identify the various forms of anxiety that plague us and then teaches you how to calm yourself and create a life of peace and harmony. The book is not too long either which is great! I have listened to it a few times already and I can feel myself transforming into a new person each time. I absolutely love it and have been recommending it to all my family and friends.
