After years of writing nonfiction about handwriting psychology and mystery fiction, I tackled a memoir. This book details my spiritual path, starting with a strict religious background that allowed for no belief in an afterlife, to the freedom of understanding that there is no death, only life after Earth.

This was an interesting listen, particularly because of how personal it is. Sheila Lowe takes the listener through her journey from a very strict religious upbringing to a completely different understanding of spirituality and what happens after death.

I found the contrast between those two perspectives particularly interesting. It’s very much a book about her own experiences and beliefs rather than an attempt to prove anything to the listener, so I think it works best if you approach it as someone sharing the journey that led them to where they are now.

There are some thought-provoking ideas throughout, although I think how much you get from it will probably depend quite a lot on your own views around spirituality and the afterlife.

Anna Crowe’s narration suited the reflective nature of the memoir well and made it an easy listen.

A very personal spiritual journey
