Story
I thought the threat from Seattle was finished. That we showed up in time and took care of business. I hate being wrong. It really ruins my day. When Roger, the alpha of the North American pack, shows up at my door with the news that a demon has made it to the Underworld with knowledge of me, some hard decisions have to be made. Do I stay above ground, with all my magical friends, and wait for the battle to come to me? Or do I seek the demon out, and pluck the threat out by the root? I don't want my friends to die on my behalf.

An Adrenaline Rush To End This Addictive Trilogy!

Summary
If her love life is going down in flames, she might as well spark a revolution.
Finding out on your 16th birthday you're a shape-shifting dragon is tough to swallow. Being hauled off to an elite boarding school is enough to choke on.
Since Bryn is the only crossbreed at the Institute for Excellence, all eyes are on her, but it's a particular black dragon, Zavien, who catches her attention.
Zavien is tired of the Directorate's rules. Segregated clans, being told who to love, and close-minded leaders make freedom of choice almost impossible. The new girl with the striped hair is a breath of fresh air, and with Bryn's help, they may be able to change the rules.
At the Institute, old grudges, new crushes, and death threats are all part of a normal day for Bryn. She'll need to learn to control her dragon powers if she wants to make it through her first year at school. But even focusing on staying alive is difficult when you're falling for someone you can't have.

Pulled into the world
I wasn't sure how much I would like this book. It seemed a little young for me, but I wanted to give it a shot.
What I liked:
I loved the main character, Bryn. She was sarcastic, and snarky, and the narrator captured that perfectly. There were a lot of fun characters in this book, and the narrator was really able to bring them to life. My favorite character(s) that she voiced was the Speaker for the Directorate (LOVED that evil, smug voice), and a green dragon named Garrett. I thought the pace of the audiobook was perfect. The writing and narration was fantastic and I started forgetting I was in my car or house and wasn't in the story standing next to the characters.
What I didn't like:
Really the only thing was the language was a little stronger than I expected.
I am very excited for what comes next. Will definitely listen to the rest of the series when they're released.

far better than expected
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I was very pleaseantly surprised by this book. I found that I rather quite liked it. I didn't expect very much due to this being a YA fantasy romance. It was actually well balanced and entertaining. The narration is well done and the story is balanced well. The action and paranormal content blends well with the young adult romance, making for a good listen for fans of any age.

Surprise! Your a Dragon Shifter!
This is the story of Bryn who finds out on her sixteen birthday that she is a Dragon Shifter. I really enjoyed listening to this story about a strong logical girl who has to deal with some crazy situations. Going to an elite boarding school, she spends her days trying to control her Dragon powers. I received this Audio book for free in exchange for an unbiased review. I really enjoyed this Audio book and would recommend it to anyone who loves independant striped haired women.

A Great Beginning
I want to begin this review by stating I received an Audible code via Audiobook Boom for an honest review. What follows is my opinion and mine alone. There was no compensation made for this review.
Now, I want you to look at the cover. It doesn't look very interesting, right? Just a girl who looks like she may have a skin issue. Well, this girl doesn't need to speak with a dermatologist, she needs someone to keep her anger in check and this girl is angry. Bryn McKenna had a pretty normal life and didn't have much to worry about. That is until a stalker comes into her life and she learns a few things. Turns out, she's not human and when someone angers her, they can get burned.
Going Down in Flames starts pretty predictably. You get your normal girl turned powerful and you have your angry people who don't like it. That said, It turned around close to the 15% mark. I found the story itself enjoyable and the world interesting. What I loved most about this book though was the main character.
Bryn McKenna is a strong and stubborn young lady. Despite most books with the "powerful girl" trope having a powerful girl who only seems to pretend to be stubborn, Bryn definitely felt like it. She is kicked hard and low but keeps coming back up and kicking hardcore ass. She holds her own in the world she is thrust into and I found her relatable.
The narration isn't bad though I do think the narrator was a bit slow. This is easily taken care of if you just speed up the reading in the audible app. For me, it works at 1.05 speed. So, it didn't take much to help it along. The narrator herself wasn't exciting at first, but once the world really started going, so did the voice. I feel the narrator was a good match for this book because of that.
In the end, I found myself being disappointed that the sequel is not in audio yet. I want to fly into this world more and see Bryn's evolution as a dragon. I would recommend this for young adult readers and readers of urban fantasy shifter fiction.

Well written good plot the narrator is very good.
Finding out when you are turning 16 you are a dragon. Not just a dragon but very much hated dragon. Sins of your parents drag you into something you don't understand and don't like.
I was wondering if I should listen to this story but took a chance and now I want more.

Hooked me
I was skeptical as I don't usually like much fantasy writing but Going Down in Flames had me hooked from chapter 1.
It doesn't disappoint.
I even had to go and purchase book two right away.
Whether you're into fantasy and dragons or not, this book is worth the read but be prepared to NEED book 2 by the time you finish!
