What a shame
I love the Jack Reacher series.
I honestly tried my hardest to stick with this book, hoping that the story would be gripping enough to smokescreen the poor audio. I failed.
Minutes would pass where I had not absorbed any of the plot. I was too wrapped up in trying to conclude whether the reader was a person or a computer. I'm certain that there is some software editing to the readers' voice as it is very unnatural.
It sounds silly coming from a man of 36, but I enjoy a reader who can do the voices of the characters. This reader is just a monotone computer throughout. It makes it quite hard to follow which character is talking.
I can't finish this which is very disappointing as there are so many books in the series after this which I want to hear.
I'm going to wait until another version of this is available so that I can continue the series, or possibly search Google Play Books to see if they have a different version of this book.

Truly awful.
I have listened to and enjoyed every Jack Reacher story ever written but this is in a different league.
The story is poorly written but the main fault is that the reader sounds like a ROBOTIC DUCK ! Delivered in a metallic monotone, after 15 mins I couldn't listen to it anymore. You should be ashamed to release this.

I listened to this in one sitting!
The best in the series. Not as pedestrian as the previous novels and novelettes. Very much in the Reacher spirit.
Because of that, I wanted to keep going and not leave the story as currently, the Audible App is not reliable At All! It keeps crashing when you pause it and you have to re-download it from your library, taking up valuable time with the knowledge that none of your bookmarks have been saved.
The vagaries of this current App make listening to a novel far more arduous than comforting. My intention is to struggle through with the final book in this series. If the problem persists then, I'll have to cease my Audible membership and purchase novels via another App.
I know that I won't be a loss for the mighty Amazon, but life is too short to have to put up with shoddy services and I'm paying for these books! I have the right to enjoy the listening experience as well as the actual book & currently I cannot do so!
Audible/Amazon - please sort this out. You're no longer the only providers out there!

Don't waste your time.
What disappointed you about Get Back Jack?
The whole premise of these books is that they have something to do with the Jack Reacher character from Lee Child's books. They really don't, but in this one some of the other characters from the Jack Reacher stories are used, that's the whole story. I've made it to chapter 10 in this second one and I can go no further, it's unbearable.
If you’ve listened to books by Diane Capri before, how does this one compare?
This is the second one and it might be slightly better than "You don't know Jack" but if so it's only because of the familiar names/characters from the Reacher novels. The juvenile nick names the lead characters have for each other are so out of place it's like chalk on a black board. Other little touches that I find annoying are phrases like "she looked at her Sieko", repeatedly. In the real world people glance at their watch. "she was thinking, in her head" (where else?)
How did the narrator detract from the book?
She is just terrible. Her cadence is off, pauses in the wrong places, and the male lead character's voice is impossible. I've tried this second book thinking maybe I could get used to her but it's not going to happen. Interestingly, she occasionally seems to go along reasonably smoothly for short periods and then reverts right back to robot mode.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Get Back Jack?
I'm not sure any of it is worth saving.
Any additional comments?
No, I think I've given it a good try, just can't do it. I'm returning these.
I do wonder if the stories would be a bit more interesting if someone like Dick Hill was doing the narration. What's done is done so that's it for me.

Interesting story based on...
Bad Luck and Trouble, Jack Reacher Book 11. The 2 FBI agents continue their fruitless search for Jack Reacher this time they find Frances Neagley, Reacher's sergeant from his MP days. (Neagley also appears in Without Fail, Book 6, and The Affair, Book 16 as well as in one of the Reacher novellas. She is likely the old squad mate to whom he is closest, although the relationship is platonic.) Neagley has a large security business in Chicago.
The book is quite good, but the narration is not. Kelley Hazen's voice is simply wrong for he book.

love story with Jack Reacher books
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
First let me start this review saying that I've never written a bad review in my life. I know the impact that they cause as I've made choices myself based on reviews. I gave this a lot of thought.
For the last several months I have devoured all of Lee Child's Jack Reacher series and loved them! Dick Hill does an incredible job! Then I listened to the last available book and immediately began searching for more similar books as this type of read was new to me being primarily a historical story reader/listener.
Then I ran across this series which contained many of the same characters so I thought "score"!! Story line is good but OH MY the narrarating was painful to listen to. Suffice to say I am returning it today after many attempts to get past the Gaspar voice and the attempt at what reminded me of the Dragnet (dating myself and apologies to the younger folks reading this) narrator Hal Gibney which was a great black and white tv series back in the 1950's (I saw reruns - ha). It worked fabulously for that series.
Perhaps this book would be best read the old fashioned way and I may try that as I thought the story was good if not a little weird as it was all about Reacher - there must be a relationship between Lee Child and Get Back Jack's author Diane Capri as if there were not there would be no way that this book and the entire series would have been published.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Narrating was so laborious that I lost the story line at times.
What didn’t you like about Kelley Hazen and StorytellerProductions ’s performance?
Horrible narrating.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
couldnt get through chapter 7 sadly.

EDGE OF YOUR SEAT STORY/ KICKASS NARRATION
What did you love best about Get Back Jack?
The story is very intricate. We meet a lot of new folks all from Jack's past and they are all scary. The way the story unfolds it's almost a 'ripped from the headlines' feel. We get to be a part of a full blown FBI insurgence.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The Hunt For Reacher stories always feel to be in real time. Capri keeps us turning the pages and this one is no different. There is a knife's edge tension that permeates the entire experience.
What about Kelley Hazen Storyteller Productions’s performance did you like?
Solid and strong. I've listened to all so far & can't imagine a better narrator for the 'Hunt for Reacher' series. Lots of characters kept very separate and clear. The narrator really adds to that 'on the edge of your seat' experience. She lets me know Otto and Gaspar intimately. The dry straightforward approach matches Capri's writing.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

TOP NOTCH
Any additional comments?
This is #4 in the 'Hunt for Reacher' series by Diane Capri and it does not disappoint. It's the best mystery yet, takes us all over the US. The characters and scenes are vivid and frightening, the relationships are deepening and becoming like old friends, the dialogue and writing are smart and well communicated by the narrator, Hazen. I was on the edge of my seat and late to several appointments because I could not stop listening. It's a wild ride of tension. I didn't want it to end. Bravo Diane Capri! Don't stop the Hunt for Reacher!

This Series Just Gets Worse
go read my reviews on 1,2,3, in the series. The first book was hopeful as you thought it really was going to be a search for Reacher-wrong- lousy, stupid FBI agents. As one reviewer on amazon put it ' Diane Capri Don't Know Jack'! Its hard to believe that Lee Child allows this raping of character.
I got an hour and 39 minutes into this one and threw up my hands. I cant listen anymore. Now Gaspar, who has had a hard-on for Reacher since the beginning has down a total about face-for no reason at all. Not a slow I have realized I was wrong approach , just a plain about face.
And the narrators voice just gets worse too. Her voice of Gaspar has been grating since the beginning and now it seems to have filtered over to Otto.
The story seems to go now where, hardly about searching for Reacher at all. I am going to go get my credit back!

Cardinal Sin Committed
I'm not actually done listening to the entire book yet but what I need to say needs to be said even before I am finished. First and foremost there is nothing wrong with the story itself. It is excellently written like all the other Hunt for Jack Reacher books. Diane Capri has mastered pissing off diehard Jack Reacher fans by introducing two federal agents who make all the wrong assumptions and come to all the wrong conclusions about Jack Reacher. But they have committed the cardinal sin of audiobooks! They changed the narrator in the middle of the book series and the new narrator is absolutely terrible. When she is reading the narration it's not so bad but when she is reading character dialogue it's the absolute worst. Corey Snow gave the characters voices that matched who they were, this narrator sounds like IBM's Watson impersonating a lifetime smoker with throat cancer. If the narrator is reading this here is my words of advice. (1) Listen to how Corey Snow narrates the character dialogue. (2) Keep in mind when narrating Carlos Gaspar that he is a Cuban-American male from Florida, not a crusty landlady from Kentucky talking through an artificial voice box.
