Summary

Who knows what ascends from the Deeps...

Macey is really quite ordinary, if you ignore that she's a kelpie princess living on land. Still, her life is boring until she gets kidnapped by a man who doesn't quite know why he kidnapped her. Try and figure that one out.

Thankfully, he and his two companions are prepared to help her find out why she can't return to Earth from their house in the Mists. Now the only problem is that Macey keeps getting distracted by the three mysterious and very sexy men....

A reverse harem romance drenched in Scottish mythology.

A unique and interesting start to the series!

Normally, I'm not a fan of a male narrator reading a book that is told from the female MCs perspective, but it did not bother me with this book. The narrator is amazing. He has a Scottish accent which added so much to the story and helped with the pronunciation of a lot of the Scottish words/phrases throughout the book. This book/series is based on Scottish mythology and focuses on the Legend of the Seven Wardens for the 7 elements (fire, wind, earth, water, air, lightning, and ice). Macey is a Kelpie princess who is "accidentally" kidnapped by Camdan. She wakes up to find that she has been transported to the house that Camdan shares with Flint and Jared. She finds out that Camdan "took" her because he felt a connection to her. We eventually find out that Camdan and Flint think that she is the warden for the Water element, Camdan is the warden for Wind, Flint for Fire, and Jared (who is an incubus) is the warden for Earth. Macey is attracted to each of the men and they all decide to begin a journey to try and learn more about legend of the Seven Wardens. This is the first book of the series, so it provides some of the background information for the series storyline and it does end with a cliffhanger. For me, this storyline is a really unique storyline and introduced me to new characters and mythology that I've never read about before. Because of the uniqueness of the story, I was interested and invested in seeing how the story was going to progress. I am planning on reading the remaining books in this series. I hope that there will be audiobooks produced for the remainder of the books in the series and that the same narrator will be used for all of the books.

Loved this paranormal RH listen!

Fantastic story and characters, I was hooked from beginning to end and can’t wait for more. Plenty of action, humor, and romance. Loved the narrator! It was my first time listening to this narrator and I certainly hope it won’t be the last. I loved listening to his performance and the different voices he used for each character. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Absolutely Amazing!!!!

"From the Deeps" reminds me why Paranormal Romance is one of my favorite genres. I'll admit, I don't usually go for reverse harems, but this one intrigued me. I was a bit hot and cold with Macey, but I loved each of the guys, Cam, Flint, and Jared. Each personality was different and distinct. Kudos to Angus Yellowlees for being an amazing narrator! The personalities he applied to each character was well done and this story got me through my day!

Such a great storyline

There is so much to take in with this book. It’s explained so well, I didn’t get lost where I find sometimes I lose the storyline in other books with so many different characters and powers. This is written so well. Angus is a new narrator to me and he delivered so well.

Kelpie?!

I read and listen to a lot of paranormal but this was my first Kelpie. The story had everything I liked, hot men, mystery and a strong female MC but I just didn't feel connected to the story. The narrator did an excellent job with the multitude of characters and separating their voices which helped a lot. I think in the end it was because there was so much information to process plus many scenes kept playing in her head. Which made it hard to grasp what was really happening and why. I did love how it was very unique in an already imaginative genre.

Interesting

Macey wants to be on land. In order to do so, she has to allow her powers to be locked and her brothers to come with her. While coping with this and adjusting to life on land, something happens and life as she knows it is forever altered. She discovers that she is one of the seven elementals chosen to keep the world from being destroyed.

I actually didn't hate this book. I really enjoyed it actually. I have read previous books by Skye MacKinnon and I enjoyed those very much as well. I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed them a bit more than I did this one, but I'm not here to talk about those books. I'm here to talk about this one. While I enjoyed the book very much, I have a feeling that I will not be rushing to read the rest of the series. I will probably wind up rereading this book when I do get around to reading the rest of the series though.

My biggest issue with this book was Macey. I didn't really care for her personality. I'm really hoping that this is one of those cases that she winds up having a major personality growth through the series. If not, I do not think that I will be able to stand the rest of the series. I did see potential for that happening towards the end of the book at least. Another complaint I have about the book is the instant sexual attraction thing. It's just not very realistic in my opinion. That doesn't really deter me from reading this series though.

I do recommend this book. If the reader is a fan of fantasy and end of the world type novels, this is a very ideal book for them. I do need to stress the importance that this book is very heavy with adult content and some children should probably avoid reading this material. Other than the two main issues I pointed out, I enjoyed this story very much and I do look forward to reading the rest of the series when I'm able to.

An interesting, fantasy paranormal RH romance novel. Laura Greenwood and Skye MacKinnon creates a wonderful and imaginative world with fascinating characters and storylines. The authors incorporates Sottish Mythology in to the story, the seven wardens and elements all is explained nicely and bring nice twists & adventures to the story. I enjoyed the mythological creatures/characters and what each represents, love the magic they make together and the steamy hot love scenes. Thank you for this fascinating & unique story! Looking forward to listening to the rest of the series.

loved it

This story was great! I felt like it was a unique story with great characters. I loved that it had a bit more heat in it that I normally see in Skye's PNR. I personally thought the collaboration was great! I look forward to reading more from this duo!

Narration was great! This was the 1st I have listened to from this narrator and was not disappointed. It was well read, entertaining and clean.

Great listen! Looking forward to book 2

I loved that Laura and Skye went with Angus 😍😍😍

I adored this audiobook by Laura Greenwood and Skye MacKinnon! I loved that they went with a male narrator, it was exactly what the book needed and I CANNOT WAIT to listen him do the rest of the series ❤️❤️❤️

I liked the story of the 7 Wardens. I enjoyed how they met and their different abilities and how they are different supernatural beings. I didn't think I was going to like Jared as much as I did, but he surprised me. I think Angus did a phenomenal job with his personality. I adored Camdan! I wasn't 100% sold on Flint's voice but I love his character. The adorable moments these guys showed us in Book 1 was fantastic. I think the only reason I couldn't give the book 5 stars all around is I am not 100% sold on Macey yet. I think my only complaint from Book 1 was that her mind was mostly about jumping them and their physical appearance. I am excited to see them learn more about each other and strengthening their relationships even further. I also wasn't a huge fan of them all shacking up right away but I understand why. Enjoyed the way Laura and Skye described Macey in her kelpie form. Oh, wish only Jared called her little kelpie (or just the guys), not all the other male characters that did. Loved how different all 3 of them were with Macey (and how steamy their scenes were!). I also am interested to see what happens with Ishban, Amber, and Catman ❤️

Again, Angus makes this story come to life and I am really happy that Laura and Skye went out on a limb and picked a man to perform the narration instead of a woman. I thought Angus added a lot of value (and did a good job with the different characters, especially "The Voice' and the Malan). Hope book 2 isn't too far away on audio, will snatch it up right away!

From the Deeps

An original start to a new series. A few scenes are little steamier than I usually listen to, but the storyline is great. A great setup for the next book in the series.

Fantastic Paranormal Romance!

This is the first book in the Seven Wardens Series. This is a fantastic paranormal romance. The team authors/narrator is perfect. Skye McKinnon and Laura Greenwood 's writing is original and captivating. The characters. Macey and her men, Camdan, Flint, and Jared, share a strong chemistry, and an undeniable chemistry. I love the storyline. Be aware that the story ends with a cliffhanger. Now, I can't wait for the next book in the Series. The narration is really well done. Angus Yellowlees is a new narrator to me. He has a beautiful voice, easy to understand. I enjoyed my listening. I received this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
