Cora Black's journey through this book was brilliant, her character was well thought put and had me wanting to be her by the end!
The huge array of monsters we had in this book....pure perfection! They were all described well, each had theor own unique personalities, their own back stories. *mwah* *chefs kiss*
My emotions were thrown all over the place during this book, but hands down could not tear myself away from it!
The spicey scenes....spot on!! Absolutely spot on!

I thought this was a really good story. It shows the differences between acceptance of differences and the fear and resentment of it!😠 This also includes the jealousy of magic.✨️
Cora is a poor but independent young girl then woman. She's fiercely protective of her older sister, who just wants to be in love, to marry and have children!🫶
The realm is dirt poor. The men completely repress the women and girls, and Cora resents. When the King from the neighbouring realm comes to collect that year's sacrifice to the mosters in the Dead Lands, Cora volunteers when her sister Kai is chosen!💔😢 Once in the Dead Lands, she fights to survive and ends up actually thriving. She finds protectors in different 'monsters' that have more humanity than most of the humans she grew up around! It then becomes apparent she has a larger purpose in this world!💥
It's a lovely story. It has a lot of steamy scenes. This is a monster based 'why choose' with a hea.💘🔥

Cora seems to have the hots for EVERY SINGLE MONSTER at their first encounter, like seriously! Also, I just couldn't quite get into the style of this book, I feel like I'm being told everything rather than shown of that makes sense.
Troy's narration was great though and the only redeeming factor of this audiobook.
