Summary

The scene is Gibraltar, 1793. The gathering might of revolutionary France prepares to engulf Europe in another bloody war. As in the past, Britain will stand or fall by the fighting power of her fleet. For Richard Bolitho, the renewal of hostilities means a fresh command and the chance of action.

Out of step

Top many clichés racist references and remarkably weird and patriacal portrayal of women with an unnerving quick switch from gory battle scenes to creepy worship of bolitho. Enjoyed as a teen many years ago not for these times.

The Binge Continues!

Just right now I can't get enough of these, Book 11 and I am still choosing to go on to the next rather than try something else each time though maybe with a new Thomas Kydd book I coming out I should take a break soon!

This is one of my favourites of the series so far and has it all from Michael Jayston's excelent narration to lots of action and intrigue. I'm going straight on to the next one!

Richard Bolitho is a legend

I read all these books years ago when I was sailing tall ships professionally, first as a topman and finally as master . I loved them and still do. yes they sometimes come across with a bit to much hero worship but they are still great yarns and I'd recommend.

Great Listen

I've read this book a score of times since high school, but the reader made it come alive again. Can't wait to listen to others in the series!

Post Captain Bolitho Finally Finds A Bride...

Can a promotion be far behind? I mean HOW MANY enemies does Bolitho have to vanquish and destroy to warrant a promtion to the Admiralty?

Compares well with Master and Commander series.

Would you listen to Form Line of Battle! again? Why?

No, but only because there are several more in the series and I am hooked.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
