About this listen

When her father’s killer, Glen Fallan, is arrested for another murder, PI Jasmine Sharp enters an underworld where violence is a way of life and vengeance spans generations. DS Catherine McLeod has one major Glaswegian gangster in the mortuary and another in the cells for killing him - which ought to be cause for celebration. But this case is far more dangerous than it appears on the surface; deeper than skin, darker than blood.…

Darker than early Brookmyre, and maybe not for the faint hearted, as quite shocking in parts, but I thought it was an amazingly crafted conclusion to the Jasmine Sharp trilogy. Gripping and well written as always, and still darkly funny in parts. Although this drew a lot of story lines to a conclusion it did leave the door open for another - hope so!!!

Surprising twists and excellent.

You know what you'll get from Brookmyre. Odd plot twists, flawed but likeable characters and some absolute class A bastards combined with pacy narrative and a tour of Glasgow, a city I've never been to but feel quite familiar with after a fair few of his books. Few little points. Brookmyre might want to get a soldier to look over his script. One character, a 12 year served Royal Marine is unlikely to refer to his time in the Army. In another book he referred to the Army's Explosives Ordnance Department which made my teeth stand on edge. Luckily the words were spoken by a copper.

Usual high standard from Brookmyre.

I have read/listened to most of Christopher Brookmyre’s book and enjoy his style immensely. On listening to the first of the books in the Jasmine Sharp series I wasn’t particularly blown away, but the subsequent books have developed the three main characters so much more, and wow the storyline of this book brings together the past and present in a thoroughly satisfying way. I really am looking forward to finding out what happens next!

Love love love it
