Summary

The Iron Prince will claim his crown.

Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting.

After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived.

Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers. Squaring off with some of the best Users in the Astra System, they're going to have to put everything they have—as individuals and as a team—into their coming fights if they want to ultimately end up standing at the top. As ever, though, their journey is hardly bound to be a smooth one.

Especially not when Rei and Aria begin to suspect that Shido may be even more formidable than it appears, much less as the powerful entities who've already taken notice of the 'Iron Prince of Galens' begin to make their moves, some casting their hands in his favor, others very much against…

nothing happens for like 1/3 of the book.

quite a lot could have been cut from this book. we spend a long time with not much happening and the same story beats as always.

glad we finally got somewhere, wbut given this book is three cradel books long expected a bit more.

The tournament was a bit of waste of time as there was no villain or competition...

overall a comfortable read, like early morning cartoons.

Good continuation, with hopefully more to come

Good: The character and fight sequenses felt like natural continuation of the firstbook whilst still moving the plot/ characters forward. I also think this book makes an excellent job establishing an end goal, creating several ways of introducing antagonists and challenges without having it feal like ther wher drawn out of a hat.

Bad: The passing feels a bit off as some sequences and plot developments pass by in a flash whilst others sem to drag on. The narrator also uses similar voices to several background characters, making some rare dialogues a little bit confusing.

Overall: If you liked the first book in the series then you'll probably like this one.
Can't wait for the next one.

If you loved the last one...

You wont be dissapointed with book two. Truly enjoyed every minute and cant wait for the next one. If i had to nitpick i would say one or two moments strayed towards current issues, just a mention or throwaway comment really, which i personally dislike to find in any fantasy novel and the narrator needs to lock down Arias accent. I feel like it strays from Irish to French to Indian and back again.

AMAZING

A brilliant second instalment of s fabulous story. This is the best story in its genre. The world building is fantastic. The characters get better and better. This had be smiling, laughing and almost bought a tear to me eye in places.

Great narration again by Luke Daniels.

My only complaint was that it ended. I want? No I need more.

Utterly brilliant.

A great continuation to book 1

I thought that the story would cover a lot more time but it didn't. However I thoroughly enjoyed it and especially found the much deeper characterisation authentic. Well done Bryce!

compelling

you will laugh, you will cry, you will most likely curse the authors...
and yet you will be compelled to finish this wonder of a book

Luke is a great narrator but his female voices still need work
