In the end, it's not what happens to us that matters most - it's what we choose to do with it. We all face suffering - sadness, loss, despair, fear, anxiety, failure. But we also have a choice; to give in and give up in the face of trauma or difficulties or to live every moment as a gift. Celebrated therapist and Holocaust survivor Dr Edith Eger provides a hands-on guide that gently encourages us to change the imprisoning thoughts and destructive behaviours that may be holding us back.

We strive for success, but we are rarely happy. The more we try to win - putting on a brave face for work or family - the more we risk losing ourselves. And even reaching our goals can feel strangely hollow. The culprit? Fear. It makes us anxious, or shameful, or turns us into perfectionists. We pretend to be someone else while aiming for a status that’s never truly satisfying. There is another way. A way to find our true voice, to win on our own terms.

Not sure how I feel about this book.
I would like to begin my review by saying that I am a big fan of Dr Chatterjee’s podcast, I have often found it to be life-changing. I also greatly appreciate his noble intention in writing this book and his genuine effort to get us all to consume less “blissy” foods. That said, I did not find anything (new) in here that a person struggling with their weight wouldn’t have discovered (on their own) anyway. It was also slightly disconcerting that some tips were very pre-pandemic. Nonetheless, I find it might be more useful for parents who are trying to model a healthy relationship with food to their children. While your time spent listening to this audiobook will be time well-spent, don’t go into it with your expectations too high that you will hear something new on weight-loss. Do listen to it if you wish to develop a healthier lifestyle and have no idea where to start.

Life changing wisdom and advice
I have become a huge fan of Dr Chatterjee since discovering his podcasts during lockdown. I found them so inspiring, l decided to purchase this book. I have spent my life feeling hungry most of the time, which resulted in me snacking all day and slowly gaining weight as a result. Since following his advice of eating most of my calories earlier on in the day, l find l am not longer hungry in the daytime and therefore no longer snacking at all. I also said goodbye to my car and started walking everywhere, which l love to do. I feel happier, less stressed and have more energy. The walking and changing what time l eat most of my food has resulted in me losing a stone of weight, and feeling the best l’ve felt in years. Mr Chatterjee genuinely seems more interested in making the nation healthy over making himself wealthy, which l respect him for. If you can’t afford to purchase the book, l’d highly recommend you listen to his podcasts which a free.

Refreshingly different, highly recommended read!
I’m a GP and I’ve been looking for some time for a book like this. This book is going to enable me to direct patients to sensible but ground breaking thinking which I hope will lead them towards sustained changes in their lives and a better understanding of what influences their weight. Hopefully, it will give me a fighting chance of reducing how late I run too in my consultations trying to cover too much - it’s all here instead! Thankyou!

Finally feeling good about myself
Oh my goodness! I feel so empowered and frankly a bit emotional writing this. I woke up feeling fat, bloated and sick of the site of myself in the mirror. I decided to download Feel Great, Lose Weight and have subsequently, listened to the whole book, cleaned my house, had a long shower and put on a nice face mask, put a dress on even though I am not going out, made a vegan curry for lunch tomorrow, ate only 80% of my lunch and have decided to walk to the dentist later instead of drive... I have a plan for myself, which for the first time in my life, is not obsessive or calorie focused and I am finally giving up the grueling gym routine which doesn't work for me. Feeling fresh, encouraged, empowered and already recommended it to my brother. I have always been a Dr. Chatterjee fan, but boy, did he nail it with this book. Can not recommend it enough.
