Summary

After making it through winter, Rowan, Devon, and Kiaya have settled into a routine and are looking forward to creating a future full of hope, new relationships, and even a brand new life.

Too bad it’s impossible to escape trouble completely during a zombie apocalypse.

When rumors about a new group causing trouble in the area reach them, Rowan, Devon, and Kiaya worry the life they’ve worked hard to build is at risk. Doing everything they can to make sure they’re safe, they increase security and create evacuation plans, but the more they discover about this other group, the more they begin to realize how unstable their situation really is.

Complicating things even more, Devon and Rowan learn disappointing news about other babies that have been born over the last several months. It seems zombies aren’t the only side effect of the virus, and with no real knowledge of what caused the outbreak to begin with, there’s no way to predict what might happen next. Meaning the only thing they can do is hope and pray that things turn out all right.

As spring moves into summer and their future grows more precarious, the group braces themselves for whatever they might face next. But the one constant in a zombie apocalypse is uncertainty, and they soon discover that preparing for some things is impossible.

Pulse Quickening

Book 5 of the Far Series.

Surviving the apocalypse is becoming more and more precarious for our group. Rowan would like to think the most dangerous thing facing her would be her progressing pregnancy and Devon would certainly prefer the usual worries about being a good father but their situation is more and more life-threatening than just the hordes of Zombies. When venturing out from their life at the hospital to trade with nearby settlements of survivors, they come across evidence that another group of friendlies they discovered during the harsh winter has been wiped out... but other people, and when they investigate other strongholds they know about to compare notes, they realise they are all being targets in a very organised and methodical way.

No matter how Kaiya tries to focus on maintaining their existence she cant resist her growing connection to Doug but before their romance can truly begin, she has to throw that logical genius brain into trying to outthink this band of killers and keep her group alive. They've got more concerns than timing contractions when their unknown enemy rolls up at their gates and weaponise the dead against the settlements, playing sniper with anyone whose not a child if they try to flee.

Narration by Naomi Rose-Mock is fantastic.

More Please!

Just wow, what a drama filled instalment, a real edge of the seat read, I just couldn't put this book down. A new threat emerges, seemingly unstoppable, just another day in the apocalypse for Rowan, Devon and friends, A real roller coaster episode that leaves you begging for more, with great narration that really helps bring the characters to life, I can't wait for the next book.
