Summary

He’s running himself ragged to keep his family together...

Wyatt’s always been the caretaker for his three younger siblings, but when his parents’ negligence becomes too much, he needs to step in and make things official. Keeping the kids out of foster care and raising them by himself is almost too much for one 24 year old to handle, but he’ll do anything to protect his family. Even if it means turning to a staid and surprisingly attractive lawyer who’s willing to take his case on a pro bono basis.

He’s the best family lawyer in the state...

Forty year old Carter admires Wyatt’s determination to raise his siblings despite his young age. And they should have no problem keeping things professional. After all, Wyatt is too young for him and way too busy taking care of three kids. But the more time that Carter spends with the family, the more he finds himself fitting in and hoping for more.

As long nights with Wyatt burn with the promise of passion, Carter will need to decide if he’s ready to risk his heart to take a chance at having everything he always wanted with a man and a family he never knew he could need.

Love hasn’t come easy or stayed long for the men of Knot Pointe, Colorado. But now luck is on their side. They’ll seize their second chances and find the loves of their lives! This audiobook and every other audiobook in the Second Chance Lovers Series can be enjoyed in any order.

as good as the ebook

The story is always 4 or 5 stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook.

The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. It took me a little bit, to come into the narrator, but at the end, it worked. I only have to take a few breaks between. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review.

a perfect pick me up

This was a joy to listen to. C.S. Harder narrated clearly and at just the right pace. He has to use several different character voices for Wyatt and his 3 siblings, as well as for Carter and others too. They all work, but my absolute favourite is Eli!

The relationship between Wyatt and his siblings is very well written. It's neither sugar coated nor too fraught. Yes, there are problems along the way, but they are all solved realistically. Despite a large age gap, Wyatt and Carter work well together. Carter provides stability for Wyatt and Wyatt, along with his brothers and sister, gives Carter the family life he's never experienced before. The MPreg side of things is perhaps solved a little too neatly, but this gentle, almost angst free, listen is a perfect pick me up.

DNF due to the narration

I really wanted to finish this audiobook book, but the narrator’s voice sounds just like Dick Van Dyke. Sweet, happy, old man grandpa Dick Van Dyke. When I got to the first sexy scene it made me gag. No offense meant to the narrator, he did a good job at adding in the right amount of emotion & inflection. His cadence was perfect! But ya... I’ll never let him read smut to me again. I’m going to buy the kindle book so I can try to finish the story.

Uniting a Family

Wyatt and Carter come together under extremely stressful circumstances. Wyatt needs legal help to gain custody of his siblings. Carter offers to take his case pro bono. Both men try to keep their relationship professional, but their feelings for each other are just too strong. They become deeply involved in each others lives. Carter comes to care for Wyatt’s brothers and his sister. He wants to lighten Wyatts load. Austin Bates has done a great job in character development. He brings all of the characters to life in such a way that you can’t help but love them all Wyatt, Carter and all of the children come together to form a very strong family unit. Carter and Wyatt want to build a life together, but both are reluctant to help for too much. Carter worries about his brothers and sister.Wyatt has been hurt before and is afraid to help for too much but happily ever after in the story is one of the best the elements of the story are so well woven together. C has Hart or has done another great job as the narrator. I am looking forward to the next story in this series.

A great addition to this series

This is a heartfelt written book. Wyatt's brother's and sister are taken away from his family because his parents are arrested and he is heart broken and determined to try and get them back and raise them himself. He needs guidance and help, so he turns to Carter, who is an attorney and tells him what has happened and asks for he's help and guidance. After a lengthy time things get settled and Wyatt gets his siblings back and he gets Carter as well. They slowly realize that they are becoming their own family unit and things are working out well for them. This is a very well written story. The character development is well done and the over all story lines flow effortlessly. I would highly recommend this series to you. Mr. Harder's narration adds a nice presentation to the over all enjoyment of this Audible book. An avid reader/listener in Rock Tavern, NY.

Such a lovely story!

I love the characters, particularly Wyatt, with his deep love for his siblings, and his need to protect them and give them the chances in life that he didn't have.

I love the way in which Wyatt and Carter's love grows slowly and steadily, how they stand by each other. This is a romance, but it's also a sweet tale about family and responsibility.

And I love that the pregnancy is simply something that happens when they are already together, not the reason for them to get together :P

A great story, with a very good narration done by C.S. Harder.

Sweet story

What happens when you get left taking care of your 3 younger siblings and you are only 24 yourself? You need the help and support of others and that is what this book is about.

Wyatt needs help in being allowed to continue caring for his siblings so he finds the best he can. He gets Carter. Carter is in his 40's and can not help but fall for Wyatt seeing how he is doing everything to make up for his parents, However in the middle of it all they fall for each other despite the age difference and the kids. But when Wyatt's mom throws a curve ball that no one expected can the rally around and protect this family?

Great read, looking forward to more in the series.

Love this series

This series just keeps getting better. Wyatt is forced to seek legal counsel when his younger siblings are taken from their parents custody. The lawyer he finds, Carter, agrees to help him. I loved watching them fall in love. This book has an interesting twist that had me a little worried but in the end just added to their family. This is a story and series to enjoy over and over. I can't wait for more.
Narrator C.S. Harder does another fabulous job.

Falling

I thought the story was well written. It had strong characters that were well defined. What I didn't like was the narration.
I was easily distracted and would have to back up the audio to catch myself up. It took a while but I finally figured it out.
Mr. Harder had a wonderful listening quality and his inflections were well done, but he would stall after every sentence, and that would through the flow of the story off.
After I figured that out I kept up with the goings on of the characters.

enjoyed it

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Were there any parts I found annoying: no
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: yes

Nice easy listen. - sweet story with interesting characters and a good pace. I liked the way Austin Bates handled the dysfunctional family and that Wyatt and Carter's relationship took time to build (- it would have worked just as well without the mpreg element of the story).

C.S. Harder did a good job on the narration and added to the overall audio experience.
