Summary

Sometimes salvation comes from the most unlikely hero.

When Tate Gillespie is marked for death for a crime he didn’t commit, his life crumbles. In a world where "justice" is meted out by a relentless military force, he’s going to need more than a mythical guardian angel. His life down to seconds, he’s saved by the mysterious X, a knife-wielding man he's never even met before. But who is X? Is he the man who threatens and kills without a second thought? Or the strangely gentle man who only seems to act that way around Tate?

X is a shadow. A wraith. A man who flits through the city virtually unseen. He’s got no time for people when knives are far more reliable. X does have one weakness though - the man he's been keeping safe for years who doesn't even know it. He'd burn the whole world to keep him alive. But what he won't do is stake his claim. Tate’s not his and he needs to remember that, no matter how close they might become.

With the military in hot pursuit, they’re going to need to rely on X’s skills to keep them both alive. Tate’s feelings are growing with every hour they spend together, but X is a tough nut to crack. Can two people from very different backgrounds really find common ground? Or will one of the many perils they face throughout their long journey drive them apart?

It’s all about survival. Not love. Isn’t it?

Exposed is an action/adventure story featuring two men who couldn’t be more opposite.

Great story and fantastic narration

I usually don't read or listen to dystopian stories very often, but I was curious about this audiobook.
Exposed absolutely thrilled me, both with the story and the narrator. The plot hooked me from the beginning and the author created the two main characters X and Tate interesting and deep. The story is told alternately from the point of view of the two main characters.

Tate is kind of sweet, likable, and maybe a tiny bit naive, but absolutely lovable. His life goes off the rails when he is falsely accused of industrial espionage.
But before the regime can take him away, X appears on the scene, rescues Tate, and the two have been on the run ever since. X is pretty much the opposite of Tate, he is aggressive, reaches for the knife faster than he can rethink his decisions and yet there is a soft core in him. It always comes out when it comes to Tate, then X becomes a protector and Tate discusses some situations with him. And despite his hard shell, you can't help but take X to your heart.

There is plenty of action and suspense and the growing relationship and dynamic between Tate and X kept me intrigued. The audiobook is extremely entertaining, partly because of the story and partly because of the narrator, who was new to me.

Anderson Richards did an absolutely killer read and it was an absolute pleasure to listen to his voice. He expressed the emotion and the entire range of feelings perfectly. Likewise, he gave the two characters different voices so you could always tell the two apart.
Anderson Richards is someone I will be on the lookout for. Hopefully he will read more audiobooks.
I haven't read Exposed, but the audiobook deserves extra stars because of the narrator!

An incredibly good audiobook - highly recommended!

Not for me

I think this is not my story. I listened for 5 hours. They are running from killers but noticing the novel is 13 hours I know they will survive. Again. And again. And again. And again. And again. I did not finish.
Narration is good.

Excellent post-apocalyptic story!

This was such an incredible book! I was incredibly impressed with the fast pace and the level of action in this dystopian, post-apocalyptic scenario. The characters are incredibly engaging, too. The real definition of opposite attract. X is a broody, violent man, always at the ready with a threat and a knife. Except when it comes to Tate, that’s when he becomes, if not emotional, extremely protective and gentle. Tate is the excavator opposite: he’s sunny and chatty and also quite naive.
The book is steamy and exciting, and the narrator, Anderson Richards, portrays masterfully both MCs and their range of emotions!
Definitely a 5-stars-read and I would give a couple of stars more to the audio version, if given the chance!

Action Packed

Great story. Loved X and Tate. This story was quick moving. Tate was the best, his sections were full of humor and positivity. X was grumpy and loyal. This story was actually different than I expected. The story is X protecting Tate after he is falsely accused of a crime. This is a frantic tale of X and Tate trying to find a safe place. I loved it. It was quick passed and they are a great team. Tate isn't as weak as he seemed, and grows throughout their adventure. X grows as a person. There were times I didn't know how they would make it or where they would go, but it all flowed wonderfully and I highly recommend it.

Exceptional

The storyline was unique and exactly my type of story.
Intriguing characters who couldn't be more at odds but the author made them work.
Amazing world building with plenty of action, drama, suspense, danger and laugh out loud moments between Tate and X.
Anderson Richards is a new to me author and I absolutely loved his narration.
He did an excellent job distinguishing between both characters and I can't wait to hear more from him.

This MM romantic thriller is exciting and HOT...

This survival romance with dystopian elements was exciting and HOT from start to finish. In a world where death squads execute citizens without benefit of trial, the writing is on the wall for poor Tate when he’s framed up for a white collar crime he didn’t commit. Saved in the nick of time from certain death by a mysterious guardian angel called X, the pair must flee and attempt to stay one step ahead of the death squads. Tate and X couldn’t be more opposites – I loved the pairing here with Tate’s fragile sweetness and general ineptitude (at the beginning) contrasting strongly with X’s muscular physique, quiet assurance and ninja-like skills. The emotional journey here for both characters is rewarding, and I remained engaged and invested all the way through. The narration by Anderson Richards was top notch.

Great dystopian story

Story: The first thing that comes to mind when thinking about this book is the great world building. We meet the MCs in a dystopian world full of interesting ideas on society and the world as a whole. The MCs themselves were really interesting, total opposites and I liked how the author made it all work. The story is intense, but a pleasure.
Narration: Great voice and really good performance that carried forward all the emotions palpable in the narrative.

Tense and eventful

Loved this as a book and I think I love it even more as an audiobook! X is a great character. The story is eventful and the suspense is written well. The narrator was new to me and I really liked him. I thought he did a great job and I hope I get to hear more books read by him. The voices of the two main characters were well defined and he made Tate’s exuberance endearing. I am sure this will be a re-listen for me in the same way the book has become a re-read.

Hot hot 🔥🔥

This was a steamy, opposites attract, BDSM, moderate angst romance.
Literally the best combination ever in my book!

The audio delivery and narration was on point and flawless. I couldn't have asked for a better narrator.

The characters were likeable, relatable and well fleshed out.

The storyline was engaging and compelling.

The author's writing style appealed to me and I really had a lot of fun listening to this one.

Excellent and Hard to Put Down

I wish I had been able to listen to this all in one go, because it was extremely hard to turn off when I needed to go to bed. I stayed up way too late every night ‘I’m just going to listen to one chapter’ that turned into five. The storyline was fascinating mc rivoting, and the narrator did a fantastic job with both Tate and X’s voices, as well as the many side characters. I need to hear more from this narrator and author duo. I hope they work together again because I felt like it was the perfect combination.

I typically listen to/read contemporary books, but there was something about the blurb that pulled me in. I’m so glad it did, because I really enjoyed it. I enjoy reading about flawed characters. There’s a lot of beauty in them and their stories. Even when times were as harsh as they were for Tate and X.

I would definitely recommend this audiobook.you won’t regret listening to it.

THE STORY AND NARRATION WERE AMAZING...HECK! BEYOND AMAZING! I HAVE BEEN IN A BOOK FUNK EVER SINCE I FINISHED IT BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT IT TO END. THE MM GENRE NEEDS MORE UNIQUE AND UNFORGETABLE STORIES LIKE THIS ONE. IT'S SO RARE TO FIND A SUCH A GREAT DYSTOPIAN MM STORY. ANDERSON RICHARDS' PERFORMANCE WAS FLAWLESS.

THE STORY WAS DARK, EMOTIONAL, HUMOROUS, SEXY AND ROMANTIC. IT WAS PERFECTION! I NEED MORE PLEASE!!

Best audiobook of the year!

This is my first H.L Day book and I’m an instant fan now. The story was intriguing from start to finish. I had to pace myself because although I wanted to find out what happened next as quickly as possible I also wanted to savor this story. The narrator is also new to me but OMG he is perfection!!!!!! I need more from this duo!

Loved It

I enjoyed this thrilling story of love and survival. Exposed has several of my favorite tropes. forced proximity, opposites attracts, and hot steamy moments between Tate and X. Narrator did a great job giving voice to all characters and telling the story. Highly recommend for readers who enjoys Zero At The Bone type of stories.

What would you do for love?

Exposed is a wonderfully written intense suspenseful love story with great world building about Tate and X. Tate is about to be killed for a crime he didn't commit, wrong place wrong time kind of thing, when he's saved by X and his knives. Now they are on the run for their lives, an adventure all on its own. Where can they go and who can they trust? I loved this book. It had me engaged and on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. I loved the connection between Tate and X, even after X reviled a secret he'd been keeping. One I think that actually brought them closer together. I really enjoyed listening to this book and definitely recommend it.
Narrator Anderson Richards does an amazing job.
