Summary

Supervillains are murdering people in the streets, but yet superheroes are more concerned with gaining popularity than bringing the villains to justice.

These villains think they are above the law and that nobody can stop them, but they never planned for me. I’ll murder every one of them with my powersuit, traps, and sidekicks.

And if killing bad guys makes me a villain in the eyes of the heroes, well...I’ll destroy them too.

Silly power fantasy

Expected a gary sue power fantasy but the main character has no depth or real motivations whatsoever. He's not a villain or evil at all either with higher morals than the heroes the book seems to think it's being really daring by painting as vain narcissists, however would have still been more interested in hearing more about them than the wonderful can do nothing wrong main character. Voice actors were really good, providing decent personality with their performances.

I love the narrator's. No story.

the narration is 10 out of 10. with that out of the way, there is almost no story. did you read the description? Because that's the first half of the book. I have read similar books that got to the same point within the first half hour that this book took four hours to get to. after the first 10 minutes I was on the fence whether about I was really enjoying the book or found it utterly pointlessly boring. I meant i got halfway through the book before I realized that there is just nothing happening. boring one-dimensional characters. They never accomplished anything. it always feels like the story is going somewhere. then it's interrupted by pointless sex scenes.

Leans hard into the Mary Sue.

The performance was okay, but the material was juvenile wish fulfillment. Many missed opportunities. I doubt I would ever listen to this author again.

OP main character? Just what I was looking for!

This is absolutely a wish fulfilling Mary Sue super hero action story. The plot is just a means for the main character to be awesome. And you know what... That's OK sometimes! Sometimes I don't need a super well written, character driven and nuanced story. Sometimes I want to watch the a super well choreographed kung fu movie in which the main character goes from one enemy spawn location to the next for 90 minutes, kicking ass the whole way. this is like that but for audio books! mostly because the voice acting and cast is better than almost anything I've listened to before. It's a full cast of people and they are really into their part, really playing up the corniness. I love it I want more.

too graphic sex

while I liked the actual story well enough, the graphic sex scenes and Miles obsession with sex and women really killed the story for me.

A private billionaire inventor fight crime story

Enjoyed the premise and the characters. Incompetent corrupt superhero team is like the seven in the boys. Like harem elements are minimal.

Male Mary Sue meets bad fanfiction wanabe.

The base story is interesting, and if was written less like a horny teenage boys fantasy it might have been good. Also there is some rather explicit (and incredibly sexisist) sex scenes.
The acting is great however.
But overall I am glad I didnt spend actual money on this.

I like villainous heroes but this.....

The MC is the kind of smart that you hate and the kind of Playboy that is annoying and snobbish without it being an act.

the writing was good but I couldn't stand the main character. I felt like at any time audible would post to iamverysmart. imagine an anime isekai protagonist with none of the self efficacy.

also a bit of an overexplainer.

If you want a story with a tropey supervillain out of a bond movie this is for you (I'm serious, there's an audience out there for silly over the top villainy)

if you want this idea but done well look up super sales on super heroes.

Meh

Not going to lie, I went into this book kind of hoping it would scratch that Super Sales on Super Heroes itch. Sadly, this book did not quite scratch that, not for me at least.

To roughly sketch the main character, I would say he's Iron Man and Batman, minus the aspects that make either of those characters loveable, and played by a manipulative douche. I assume the author is trying to pain him as an anti-hero, but rather not being mysterious and interesting, Instead... he just came off boring. Rich guy dislikes the ways heroes operate, so he goes vigilante cause he's a genius and can make anything and despite what he does, all the women will love him. Just saved you a credit.

Aside from the uninteresting main character, everything else about the book was rather mediocre. The world building was a bit lackluster. The supporting characters felt flat. The most interesting character was actually the robot, in my opinion. But hey, who doesn't like robots with machine gun nipples.

The only good thing about this book is the performance. The narrations were superb. Unfortunately you give good actors bad scripts, don't expect the movie to be spectacular. I would say give this book a try if you absolutely can tolerate the whole Marty Stu thing and harems. Cause ya know... playboy MC can bang anyone he wants really. For me, I could only tolerate about 75% of the book and had to stop cause it felt like it was going nowhere interesting.
