About this listen

Missing Persons Detective Everleigh Beckett and her P.I. partner Isaac Stern have a habit of solving cases in time for a Christmas miracle, but this year, the case is one that may put Isaac in the crosshairs.

Isaac Stern was once a rising star in the Sacramento police department, but he walked away from his career when seventeen-year-old Natalie Mathews died in a sleazy motel outside of Albuquerque. Her abductor was never found, but that doesn’t mean Isaac ever stopped looking.

When he gets a tip that a man named Atlas Finn might be operating again on social media, attempting to lure girls into sex trafficking, Isaac goes on the offensive, but Atlas Finn also wants revenge on the man who relentlessly pursued him for eight years, forcing him underground.

Will Isaac discover Atlas’s real identity before it’s too late? Or will the case that has haunted Isaac for so many years become his last?

I always enjoy the author ML Hamilton and narrator Kelley Hazen pairing. It is guaranteed to be well written, juxtaposing humour with suspense and utter sweetness with edge of your seat, nail biting stress. These stories are guaranteed to have witty dialogue delivered by complex but lovable characters and so much more. Kelley Hazen is able to capture reach of these elements and deliver them in such a way that the listener forgets it is only one narrator. Each character has his or her own voice that reflects his or her own personality. The Christmas Mystery series certainly lives up to these high standards.

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. In fact, the only downside is that i had to wait a year for this volume. That said, this book is slightly different from the rest in the series. There are always past issues that weave their way through the story, but this story gets a little bit too close. While the main characters, Missing Persons Detective Everleigh Beckett and her P.I. partner Isaac Stern. always work toegether to deliver a miracle before Christmas, this year the case is personal for Isaac. The case has all the elements to capture the readers attention including revenge tempered with a little redemption.

Two points of caution: 1. this series is best enjoyed in order as the characters and their relationships definitely progress through the series; and 2. make sure you have time to listen because it isn't an easy book to pause in the middle!

This audiobook was given to me for free at my request and I voluntarily provided this review.

Love this new book in the series!
