Summary

The zombies have invaded the house; the living people in Gadsen Manor have destroyed the staircase, but it's only a matter of time before the dead rise up to take their vengeance. Keeps you wanting to hear more

I enjoyed this mini series, it has an original combination of the murder mystery and the zombie thriller, although they don't always mix together very well. The zombies are more of a slight hindrance than a deadly prospect, but apart from that the characters are quite engaging, they are all pretty deep and not one dimensional.

At some points I did struggle to indentify which character was speaking, the voice acting does blend together a bit especially among the female characters. However overall I would recommend this as a listen to someone who likes the whodunnit genre.

Good Story. Annoyingly presented.

Entertaining but as it’s a free audio drama it has various shortcomings that Audible seem unable or unwilling to address. The main issue is that there is no auto play so if your driving you can only listen to 15’minutes unless your willing to stop & turn on the next episode. All audio dramas marked as finished revert back to showing as unplayed & with some, Mo-Joe in particular, with each new episode that is added to the app the oldest episode is removed. They are all free so it’s no big deal but Audible pretty much deny there are any issues & have fobbed off all my suggestions. That’s what I find annoying

A comedic whodunnit post-zombie apocalypse.

I enjoyed this comedic whodunnit set in a post-zombie apocalypse world. It is meant to sound like amateur recordings taped by desperate people trying to survive and figure out who the murderer is before they get bumped off too. No one sounds quite as panicked as I'd imagine myself to be in this situation but hopefully I'll never find out.

Short but sweet

Was decent to listen to but felt a bit short with an abrupt ending..

Felt like leading into a series 2

Short, sharp fun and different.

I couldn't quite face another full on zombie story quite yet but this was something fresh and new which kept me listening over Easter.
It could very easily have been a 20 hour marathon covering every detail, instead it was just a simple zombie story revolving around a mystery in a large manor house.
Just enough zombie action for fans and some good writing to keep you listening. Each part of the story has enough story to keep you listening and wanting to know more.

I am tending to prefer this tighter less baggy chapter setup rather than a epic novels.

I would recommend this to any zombie fans who want something different. If you are a die hard gore fan, then stay well away. This is PG.

Cliché but fun

Every character was a stereotype and some of the story fell a bit flat but it was a fun little series and all of the performances were enjoyable.

Great light entertainment

Fun, gripping and nicely voiced. I really enjoyed this light bit of fun but then I do love a good who dunnit.

If only I’d read Nigel’s review first!

I don’t know who Naomi Alderman is and I really don’t want to disparage a writer who more than likely tried her best. However within 5 minutes a couldn’t bear to hear the stereotyped characters with nothing new to say for any longer! Boring and predictable. Cliched and rather irksome to listen to. Sassy Liverpudlian girl. Insipid young man. The cast of characters reads like a Midsomer Murders episode. I love the genre and although I am desperate for a new audiobook series I am afraid Audible are leaving me cold with this one!
