The narrator’s timing made a real difference here. During the sections on self-blame and guilt, they slowed down just enough for the ideas to sink in, instead of rushing toward the next tip. When the book moved into communication and boundaries, the pace picked up and gave the advice some energy.

I also liked the pauses after the short affirmations. They gave me a second to think about whether I actually believed what I was hearing. A few points felt familiar, but the delivery kept the listening experience personal and easy to stay with.

My biggest takeaway was that protecting my peace doesn't make me cold or selfish. The book helped me separate compassion from constant availability, which is a distinction I hadn't really made before. I liked the reminders that boundaries can be simple, direct, and repeated without a long explanation.

The narrator kept the material calm and easy to absorb, especially during the parts about guilt and rebuilding trust in yourself. The exercises gave me something concrete to do instead of just nodding along.

The writing is easy to follow without sounding watered down. Short sections, direct wording, and well-placed questions kept me engaged, especially when the book moved from identifying unhealthy patterns to taking action. I liked that the exercises were explained in plain language rather than presented as homework from a textbook. A few points felt familiar, but the overall structure made them easier to connect and remember.

The audio also suited the writing. The narrator gave the practical sections enough lift while keeping the reflective parts calm, so the advice never felt like a lecture.

For years, I have questioned whether certain relationships in my life had narcissistic patterns, but I usually pushed those thoughts aside or wondered if I was being unfair. Empath vs Narcissist Decoded helped me look at those experiences from a different perspective. The explanations of empathic personalities, narcissistic tendencies, and why these two types can become drawn to each other made several past relationships easier for me to understand. Instead of simply labeling people, the book helped me recognize behaviors and relationship patterns that I had noticed before but never really knew how to explain.

I also appreciated that the answer isn't always to immediately walk away from someone. The book discusses ways to protect what matters to you, establish boundaries, and deal with difficult relationships without constantly sacrificing your own needs to keep someone else happy. I ended up taking quite a few notes because there were sections I wanted to revisit and think about more deeply. It gave me some validation about feelings I had questioned for years, but more importantly, it gave me practical ideas for handling these relationships differently going forward.

I don't think I quite understood the definition of a narcissist until I listened to this audiobook. The interaction of these two personality types is so interesting, and I see it played out all over in my life. I learned a lot from this. I think the author is kind of brilliant, and I'm so glad I listened to it.

Kind of fascinating.
