About this listen

A Warhammer 40,000 Audiobook

Since the T’au Empire annexed the world of Cao Quo, its benighted human population has caused setback after setback for their new rulers, resisting the light of the Greater Good. Now, an armed rebellion has taken root, led by the ruthless but brilliant Artamax – a Space Marine of the Raptors Chapter.

LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE

Explore the inner workings, politics, and challenges facing members of the T'au as they face a full-scale planetary insurrection from within their own empire. Can a selection of experts from across the castes come together to defeat this insurgency?

THE STORY

In a moment of crisis for the T'au Empire, the enigmatic ethereal Yor’i assembles an elite Elemental Council – a veteran Fireblade, a water caste spy, a peerless air caste pilot, and a maverick earth caste engineer – in the hope of curtailing the growing insurgency on the planet Cao Quo.

But as a full-scale planetary insurrection looms, enemies more cunning than Yor’i’s council could have imagined begin to surface from both sides, and Cao Quo soon finds itself teetering on the brink of being plunged back into a dark age of ignorance, and all-out war.

This was the best T'au focused novel out of all the ones released. The audio version was good and very easy to listen

Best T'au focused novel so far

really liked how the imperium and more specific lyrics the space marine are portrayed. it's a wee bit too long but still a listen would definitely recommend

Good book!

I enjoyed the perspective of the earth cast in Tau, it was a nice change of pace to see another casts role within the empire.

I didn't like how Artimax and unknown space marine was able to topple almost an entire planet on his own.

The character development and the world building

Emma Gregory did a fantastic job narrating and giving voices to the characters. Without spoiling too much, the story gives a feeling somewhat similar to Star Wars Rogue One, in that we're following a small core group fighting a much greater foe.

Excellent performance

This book does wonders to marry the old noblebright idea of T'au with their newer grimdark interpretation.
On top of that, its cast is memorable, in how they both fit into and diverge from from the typical stereotypes associated with T'au castes.
A must read for any T'au fans.

A very solid middleground in a mess of ideas.
