Summary

When Miss Elizabeth Waterstone encounters the enigmatic Duke of Diable Delamere in the most shocking of circumstances, she is determined to exploit his rakish expertise to the fullest extent. The duke agrees to teach her everything she needs to know but in return expects to receive her unwitting cooperation to uncover an assassination plot against the monarchy. But Elizabeth is hard to deceive, and the duke finds himself needing more than her innocent skills in his bed. Together they must use their remarkable abilities to thwart a villain, save the Prince Regent, and accidentally and inevitably fall in love.

Hmmmm

There were times I thought the book was great but there were more times I felt so much angst! It could be confusing at times and some of the love scenes I wondered if the book had completely skipped a minute or two. Some of the sex scenes were steamy which was nice. For how long the book was there should’ve been enough time to build a love and see how they could fall in love with each other but no. I wanted to slap her more than a few times for how stupid she acted. I thought there could have been great potential for this book and I loved the duke but couldn’t see how a man like him could fall for someone like her since there was no build up of love. The narration was okay, sometimes he sounded like Arnold Schwarzenegger and sometimes like Gru from Despicable Me. I don’t think I will be listening to the next book.

One of my all time favorite HEA regency novels

This book was a great combination of every thing that should be in a good book: romance, sexual tension, mystery, great dialog, and great character building. I may keep this one! I definitely want to read the next in the series!

Boring

Don’t understand how this book got any good reviews. I got through 3/4ths of it and I still can’t make myself care about the leads or feel any real connection between them. Skip!

Surprisingly good

Good story with realistic characters and a plot. Not just girl winds up with Duke.
Good narrator makes it worth the credit.
