About this listen

The Earth has changed. War is now fought in an alien virtual reality - the Game - where many of the players are anything but human.

Now part of the Black Rose guild, Alan heads to the Academy to level up and get stronger. He hopes to make allies and learn skills to win the battles to come. But with everyone pursuing their own agendas, what can one gamer do in a universe he still doesn't fully understand?

I loved the full on in game immersion aspect to this sequel, as in the first you are mainly following Alan through his adventures - really looking forward to the third installment!!!

I really liked it

Plot wise it was pretty good; spoiled by constant and overpowering game statistics. A shame as it has the makings of a top shelf saga

Pretty good but repetitive

If you could sum up Earth's Gambit in three words, what would they be?

Mainly Internal communication

Would you be willing to try another book from Cosimo Yap? Why or why not?

Yes, I've enjoyed both books so far

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The last 30 minutes

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The last few words of the book was a funny moment

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the first book, but a lot of this appeared to be Alan behaving like a teenager arguing with his AI, and so much appeared to be taking place in his mind that I got lost which parts were set in real life, which parts were in the game and which parts were in the game within a game along with his mind base.

I'm looking forward to more books, just hoping he spends less time in his mind base and more time interacting with others as that's when the story shines.

Narration was wonderful

Not as good as the first

I thought that the first book was awesome... this one blows it out of the water. 10/10

Wow!

The story and characters continue to pull you along. I think what I like best about it is the frequent surprises. The author does a good job of writing events with results that aren't what you might expect.

A good continuance of the story
