About this listen

Devon Marks loves books more than just about anything. They're his job and his passion, and they've brought him to an auction where he meets the hottest guy he's ever seen. When Brand Drake offers to let Devon come and value his extensive collection at an old mansion high in the Colorado mountains, he knows life as about as good as it gets.

Brand Drake knows he wants Devon the moment they meet, so he goes about adding Devon to his hoard the same way he would an amazing old book. But when Devon starts eating him out of house and home and showing signs that he has emerging dragon traits, he knows he hasn't just found a lover, he's found a mate.

When Devon starts to show signs of something even more amazing, Brand calls on his brothers Eagan and Tyson to help him figure out what to do, as well as how to tell Devon what's going on with his body, which is life-changing, and also dangerous. Someone always wants dragon magic to use, and Brand has to find a way to keep them safe, and to keep Devon with him, hopefully forever.

I am a huge fan of all the amazing dragons featured in the Universe written by Minerva Howe. Devon and Brand have a lot of chemistry together and it was a delight witnessing how they got together, with Brand's protectiveness and Devon's self-discovery. Now, this lovely story is read by one of the best voice actors in the genre and one of my favorites so this audiobook was a must. It was a wonderful treat hearing Mr Solo's narration and how brought every amazing character to life with his great acting skills and beautiful silky voice. Simply loved it!

Dragon Scholar is the first book in the Dragon Hoard series, an omegaverse shifter romance series with hidden dragons and mpreg. This was such a fun and fluffy book with some sweet instalove and interesting worldbuilding that has a touch of mystery. Devon and Brand's attraction towards each other is intense, but once they become mates, it is even sweeter and hotter than ever. I love how perfectly they fit each other, and the protectiveness Brand has over Devon is cute.

John Solo narrates this audiobook and does a fantastic job. I love his growly dragon voice which really brought the audio performance to life. The audiobook production was well done and it made for an enjoyable listen.

Overall a very cute story. Minerva Howe writes cute books with fun characters, although they aren't the most plot heavy books. They are pretty steamy, and a lot of the plot is lost to that. Having said that, I really liked both MCs and I liked that we got to catch up with previous characters from earlier in the series. John Solo did a lovely job!

Dragon Scholar is the first book I’ve read by Minerva Howe and I enjoyed it a lot. I’ve not read many dragon books and it was interesting how each author does them a little bit differently. John Solo is the main reason I wanted to listen to this as I love his audiobook performances. I love all of the different voices he used in this story, especially his growly one. 😊

If the remaining books come to audio I’d like to continue listening to this series.

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Dragon Scholar is the first in this shifter romance series from Minerva Howe. I went in with high hopes that started out well as Devon and Brand connect over the sale of an old book, Devon purchasing on behalf of someone else and Brand looking to add to his vast hoard. However, it quickly devolves to just a lot of sex, Devon not really thinking for himself as he's caught up in his attraction to Brand. Once the story moves on to their bond, their future together and Brand's brothers appear, then a bit more comes into the story that you can grab on to. It's interesting how they discover history unknown to the Dragon brothers and there's a moment of danger for Devon that brings the truth out to the young man who knew nothing of the world of dragons.
Overall, I enjoyed the story and how all of the characters connected. It's easy to note how much light Devon brings to the brothers' lives so I'm looking forward to seeing how more mates affect them individually and as a family.
John Solo's narration matches well with the story and the characters and was enjoyable throughout. There was an excessive amount of growling though,...
