About this listen

Dragon-shifter Eagan Drake knows Oliver Reaver is his mate. He's known it since they met, when Ollie braved Eagan's brother's den to try to save his business partner and best friend, Devon. The problem is, Ollie is convinced that Eagan needs a dragon mate, and that he's just an ordinary human.

Ollie loves Eagan desperately. He knows he should just leave and let Eagan find his true mate, but he keeps being drawn back to his dragon's side. When a dangerous vampire starts to stalk Ollie at his bookshop, he finally gives in and asks Eagan if he can come home to stay.

Now, if Ollie can just stop being the king of denial, Eagan knows Ollie can give him what he wants most. All his love, and a family of his own. But will Eagan be able to convince Ollie that he's a very special mate and let their dragons soar together?

A story of patience from Eagan's perspective as, as much as Ollie loves the dragon, he feels that he's not enough and so doesn't accept the possibility that they can be mates. At least, until there is no denying it.
I do enjoy Minerva's dragon stories. There is talk of lore and prophesy, writing their own accounts for future generations. The sense and bond of family continues to grow after Devon and Brand mated in book one, bringing the three dragon brothers back together. Ollie, being Devon's best friend is welcomed to the group and finds himself with his own dragon to contend with. Eagan is clearly besotted with the young man and it's entertaining to read as he clearly wants to give Ollie the world and protect him in any way he can. It's great to read the brothers rebuilding their relationships after so many years being distant, it's clear how much they've missed and need each other. The world built by the author is really enjoyable. There's a lot of thought into the dragon's history given their homes (read mansions/castles) and knowledge of the areas. They all stay strong for each other but it's also hilarious to read how they deal with a toddler dragon, aka Danger Mouse, who is really coming into her own, if not stealing the show.
The vampire aspect was a little bit something and nothing for me, not really having much impact on the story as it's 98% focused on Ollie and Eagan with the drama coming from Ollie's denial of his bond with him.
Overall, a great story. It's not heavy on the drama, mostly centred around Ollie and Eagan's relationship and the family coming together. Ty is just the sweetest guy, clearly loving and protective of his family and I am looking forward to him getting his own HEA next.
John Solo is a brilliant narrator for these stories. The emotion comes across so clearly in both the high and the low moments, and every character has their own individual voice, even Danger Mouse.

Wonderful fated mates romance

Continuing from book 1, you need to read to appreciate book 2.

Great world-building, and the characters all had depth.
In this book, we meet Oliver properly, Devon's co-owner of the book shop.
Eagan Drake, brother to Brand, has his eye on Ollie, and then Ollie starts feeling unsafe at the bookshop, vampires are not the Drakes friends, and they seem too interested in Ollie and the shop.

Eagan Brand knew that Ollie was his mate, but Ollie needed lots of convincing, far too much convincing for Eagan's like.

Obviously, the dragon part of him is disguised, and he hides out in his giant mansion.

Seriously a lovely paranormal romance with great side characters and main ones.

John Solo did an excellent job of narrating this book and kept me entranced from start to finish.

I received this audiobook for free from GRR at my request. My review is my opinion and an honest review - neither the author nor GRR influenced my opinion.

Another great instalment

I go into every book wanting to love it. I enjoyed this story, but I really felt left behind almost from the beginning. There’s a balance between an info dump where the entire previous book is explained in minute detail, and orienting the reader if they are starting somewhere other than the beginning.

Eventually I got the lay of the land and I enjoyed Egan and Ollie’s story. I understood Ollie’s reticence and Eagan’s eagerness. This was a very low angst story, and I enjoyed that as well.

I will give a shout out to Ollie’s niece, better known as Dragon Mouse. That little missy hijacks the book and I loved it. Shout out to dragon toddlers.

John Solo narrated this story and I thought he did a good job. I’ll definitely consider snapping up the next book and I still recommend this one. Just, I think, better enjoyed if you read the first one.

Not a true standalone and Dragon Mouse

This book was a double treat for me because, by one hand, these are more dragons written by Minerva Howe. By the other hand, it is narrated by one of my favorite voice actors, John Solo, so it combines a beautiful love story, full of steam, heartwarming moments, fated love, low angst situations and many sweet moments of camaraderie between the brothers and their mates and a great voice performance. An audiobook worthy of read and reread many times!

A delightful treat!

The second book in the Dragon Hoard series, Dragon Collector picks up where book 1 ended. Although it technically could be read as a standalone, I don’t recommend it. So much background happens in book 1 and to truly enjoy this book you need that info.

This book focuses on dragon Eagan and his mate Ollie. They are already in love, but the major issue is Ollie not believing he’s really Eagan’s fated mate. This is standard conflict in ABO romances, and the plot follows pretty familiar tracks on its way to a happy ending. This isn’t a bad thing, especially if all you want is a nice dose of supernatural fluff and sugar. There is a lot more world building that occurs which I found interesting. For the most part, this book felt like a cotton candy plot filler in the series, setting us up for something bigger come along in the series.

The audiobook was narrated by John Solo who does a great job. The audiobook was well produced and easy to listen to.
