Fearless writing

Chelle really does show her talent in this book. There’s a fine line between good and great and this book is great. Fantastic storyline with good strong characters. Excellent narration.

Amazing!

Nix and Kennedy are on the opposite side of the law. Nix is a wanted hacker and Kennedy is an under cover agent. They kept you on the edge all through out the book. Sebastian York and Kirsten Leigh done it again with bring these two exciting characters to life. I recommend this book with 5 stars.

Intrigue and romance

This is a very interesting story with lots of action and intrigueI These characters were well written with many facets that kept my attention. I also really liked the way Phoenix and Kennedy interacted; good dialogue and overall, this was a gripping story. Phoenix is a hacker extraordinaire. Kennedy is part of a black-ops organization to catch bad guys. How do they reconcile their growing attraction with the fact that they don't trust each other and that they may be working for opposite ends of the spectrum?I really liked the characters, especially Phoenix, who I thought really was a good guy (yes, even though he did bad things, but he did have a moral code!) He’s protective, very alpha but still, open to listening and working with his women. Kennedy was a strong, take charge woman and I appreciated that she fought through all situations and was such a smart character. The supporting cast, including Coco, Phoenix's protege, was good. Overall, I really enjoyed this story.

Sebastian York is one of the best narrators in this genre so I found no fault with his narration and his ability to play multiple characters. I thought that Kirsten Leigh was good; her male voice was a little forced but overall, I was very interested in listening to the story and they both did a great job.

Fantastic story and perfect narration!

I really enjoyed this storyline! There isn’t much better than an incredibly strong female that is set on showing the world she’s more than just a dirty secret! I swear we all go through life wanting to prove something to our parents. Kennedy and Phoenix have an immediate and combustible attraction. They’re both on opposite sides of the law… it’ll be nothing but luck if they make it out unscathed!

You can’t go wrong with these two narrations. Kirsten Leigh and Sebastian York was a match made in perfect ear heaven! There’s this rough and gruffness to York’s voice that I just loved. I was really happy to hear Kirsten Leigh to add a bit of strength of her voice. Kennedy is no push over and I was worried that Leigh would bring her sweet and breathy voice to the table. She kicked it up and proved she’s got some talent!

Opposites attract

I love a bad boy. I loved Nix, even harder. I found myself hoping he was going to turn out to be good. But opposites seem to really attract and Kennedy is no exception. Undercover and on the right side of the law, Kennedy is after Nix. Until she meets him. The sparks fly and their chemistry is undeniable. There is so much to love about this couple, that I found myself routing for them. The end was not what I expected and I enjoyed the twist.

Sebastian York and Kirstin Leigh are a great narrating team. They complement each other and bring the story to life. They both create a world that I get lost into as I listen to the story. It felt as if I was right there with Kennedy and Nix. I would listen to Sebastian York and Kirsten Leigh over and over again. This is a great listen.

Dirty Secret

Holy cow! Undercover jobs have never been hotter! Both characters are strong and don’t trust easily and yet these two do with each other for the most part since the beginning. I loved the progression of this book as well as the perfect ending. I have loved both books in this series and look forward to more.

Phoenix......

Dirty Secret...that is exactly the title this should have. Eva/Kennedy is a secret agent and has been given the task to get close to Phoenix. Shouldn't be too hard. She is a good looking woman and she does precisely what she is supposed to! But getting close to him does not include falling for him. This duo has massive chemistry but being on opposite sides of the law may make things a little sticky! There were times I was thinking just maybe, Nix was going to end up being a good guy, but being the perfect bad boy works for me. Bliss and Rothert teamed up and made some really great characters. I love Eva. She is spunky, fears nothing except her feelings for Nix, and is all in all the time. Nix is protective and loyal, full of that bad boy air that makes your heart race. It's a great blend of romance and suspense and left me happy and content.

Narrated by the amazing team of Sebastian York and Kirsten Leigh, it was impossible not to love every minute of their performance. These two together make the story alive, heightened by their ability to flow with the story and make us feel like we are right there with them. It's such a great listen, you will not want to miss it.

Thrilling!

Kennedy Barnes, formerly a secret love child of a former congressman and a freshly minted spy, has been given a new assignment- get close to notorious hacker Phoenix Ash and gather enough intell to put him behind bars for the rest of his life. The two fall in love as they get to know each other, but will their relationship survive all the lies, secrets, and betrayal?

As with Dirty Work, this story was well-written and seamless. While I missed the witty banter between characters, this story has more twists and turns than the first book in the series. I like how the narrative was done in this book because we get to know both sides of the story in almost every scene.

Both narrators delivered and made listening to this audiobook an enjoyable experience.

Dirty Secret is a slow-burn, enemies-to-lovers, romance written in dual narrative that ends in an HEA. No cliffhanger, and no cheating.

I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Couldn't even hold out until the "good" parrts

What would have made Dirty Secret better?

The protagonist, Kennedy/Eva is a mess! She's a HORRIBLE spy/covert operative. Her love interest Nix, is perfect. Exactly what he's supposed to be. But the problem is, Nix susses Eva/Kennedy out in a matter of seconds, then blows her cover in under 24 hours. After that she just keeps making mistake after mistake after massive blunder. I'm sorry, but the feminist in me was just SHREIKING. I couldn't get past it. I was so disgusted by her ineptitude that I DNF's at 20-30%. ugh. If you don't mind picking up a spy/romance thrill where the female lead is a vapid, addled mistake ridden ninny , go for it. I just couldn't do it. Nope.

Would you ever listen to anything by Chelle Bliss and Brenda Rothert again?

Absolutely, I usually enjoy Chelle's writing, this one however missed the mark, by A LOT! Chelle, Chelle, Chelle, why oh why did you make your supposed female super spy a complete nit wit? Have you no faith in your own sex at all? We are so much more than a sum of our parts, my dear. Seriously.

Which character – as performed by Kirsten Leigh and Sebastian York – was your favorite?

I love love LOVE Sebastion York. and he did not disappoint here, Kristen Leigh, was really excellent here as well. But the weak, simpering female lead was just a total dud for me.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Disappointment and IRE. You know, the US actually has very effective, very powerful, very amazing female covert agents. Too bad the writers couldn't have referenced any of them when creating their portrayal of "Eva". For an example, Valerie Plame comes to mind. And let's not forget there haven't been a slew of powerful female sleuths in literature. I just don't know WHERE or HOW they went so wrong, but boy did they.

Any additional comments?

Wish I could get my money back. Der. But, thems the breaks, babe.

I loved this book! It was exciting and hot all in one. Something about the female agent and the bad boy was perfect for me. I wanted him to turn out to be on the right side of the law from he beginning and I dreaded when he found out that she was an agent and that kept me on the edge of my seat. This might be my favorite book by this author yet!

The narration was excellent! I am a big Sebastian York fan but something was different about his narration in this book in a good way. I actually forget he was narrating and I don't know if that is because he had a different tone throughout this book or if it was the story that made me forget. Either way both him and Kirsten Leigh did a great job narrating this book!

Fun, Entertaining & Full of Suspense!

This was an entertaining story, full of action, suspense and lots of steamy romance. Kennedy aka Eva, and Nix were one unlikely pair; she was the agent, he was the hacker, but the chemistry and attraction between them was off the charts. I enjoyed plot, the twists, and liked how the authors weaved all the secrets, betrayal, lust and suspensions throughout the story. Kennedy's character was a little annoying. She was suppose to be this well trained secret agent but it seemed liked she kept getting herself into one dangerous situations after another, and Nix had to come to her rescue.

Dirty Secret was well worth the sale price, and I'll definitely be looking for more audios by either narrator.

Thrilling and sexy..

Sometimes the bad guy isn't who you think he is.
Half way through this book the lines got blurred because nothing I originally thought turned out to be what was really going on. I loved the twists and turns combined with the magnetic attraction the character's have for each other. It definitely reflected in the bedroom scenes. Kirsten and Sebastian's performances also enhanced the sexiness of this book. This was credit worthy for me.

Conflicted Feelings

Idk I didn't dislike this book, but I didn't really like it that much either. I didn't like the characters. Phoenix was too hung up on Kennedy/Eva and I don't like the way he handled his relationship with Kennedy and turning a blind eye to all the signs. Kennedy was annoying with her wishy washy emotions. She's suppose to work over Phoenix, but really just ends up sleeping with him and gets no info out of him. She has the nerve to be upset when he finds out for sure who she is and what she did. Both of these characters and dumb and I hate their relationship.

I did enjoy the narration and had no problems with the listening experience. Sebastian York is always great and enjoyable to listen to and I really liked Kirsten Leigh.

I see why people like this book. It just wasn't for me.

I loved it!!!

This is the first book by Chelle Bliss that I have listened to. The format is the dual narration where the narrators reading entire POV chapters. I thought both of them nailed it. This book is so much more than the typical romance. It has character development, action, hot sex and unexpected twists and turns. I would love to see the author continue writing some more stories based on other characters in this book as they would be so good, yet standalone. (Wolf would be my next pick). I loved the character of Kennedy (Eva) and came to enjoy Phoenix. My review is not a synopsis of the book, but rather my opinion of it. I was given this review copy audiobook at no charge upon my request by the author, publisher, and/or narrator and my review is totally voluntary.

Awesome listen

I listened straight through today. It was one of those books that I just couldn't stop listening to. It was nonstop action, no down time. I constantly wanted to know what was going to happen. I loved it.

Kennedy is a black ops agent and Phoenix Ash is on the wrong side of the law and also Kennedy's target. Unfortunately for both of them, they end up catching feelings for each other.

I loved the strong female character of Kennedy. There were times, either with her language or behavior, that I had a hard time buying into her being an agent. However by the end, I was convinced and buying into everything she was selling. Phoenix, or Ash as he's known, is every girls dream. Alpha and hot and all man. He was such a great character to read. I'm in love.

Kirsten Leigh is a great narrator. She is a fantastic narrator! I think a little bit of the reason I had a hard time connecting with the toughness of Kennedy, however, was Kirsten's sweet, kind and passive voice. Her narration was great. Totally spot on. But her voice was just not quite aggressive or dominant enough to pass for a black ops agent. Sebastian York is amazing. SebYo is my spirit animal. He is so good at everything he does. He was a perfect Ash. Loved it.

Dirty Secret

So this is the 2nd book in the series which focuses on Kennedy and Nix. This story and characters didn't live up to my expectations after reading the first book in the series. I didn't buy for one moment that she was a secret agent spy so the storyline fell a little flat for me. Kennedy and Nix did have good chemistry but that was pretty much it. It was just an ok read but I still look forward to reading the next book in this series.
The narrators were wonderful and made this an easy listen.

enemies to lovers with undeniable chemistry

Dirty Secret is an enemies to lovers romance with undeniable chemistry between two people from opposite sides of the law. Kennedy is the illegitimate daughter of a Senator, working undercover at a secret agency. Nix is an underground criminal hacker. When their paths cross on one of Kennedy's assignments, there is an instant attraction and the chemistry is undeniable.

I really enjoyed the twists & turns this story took and am glad that it ended with an HEA.

Kristen Leigh & Sebastian York did a great job. Their voices nicely contrast each other, helping to bring the good vs bad in this story to a new level.
