About this listen

I'm a country boy, born and raised. He's new in town and all city.

Bronc riding has always been my main focus. The plan was simple: work hard, go pro, and show the world what I was made of. It hasn't been easy, but I did it through dedication and a whole lot of determination.

My dreams came true, my life more than fulfilled… Or so I thought. I never knew how much I ached for more until I stopped to help a stranger on the side of a one-lane road one chilly fall afternoon.

He couldn't be more different than me, with his messy curls and the chipped black polish. But from the moment he fumbled over his words, flustered and tense, sitting in the driver's seat of his broken-down ride, I knew I wanted to know more. Know everything. This all-consuming need to get to know him, to get close to him, is new.

He's only in town for a short while, Copper Lake merely a temporary stop. Getting close to him is foolish… But there's no way I can stop it. Not when he makes me feel things I've never felt before.

What happens when he goes back to the city, and I'm left in the dust, watching his tail lights disappear down the dirt road?

This was a beautiful and captivating love story and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The banter was witty, the HEA was delightful and the narration was superb.

I’m always disappointed with Reviewers who leave spoilers, so I don’t.

Excellent story 👏👏👏

Book 2 of the Copper Lake series follows Cope & Xander. Cope we met in book one as he is Shooters best friend and a bronco rider too, Xander is from a city in Washington and is in Copper Lake to look after his aunt who needs surgery and take care of her farm/animals, she just happens to live next-door to Cope & he meets Xander when Xanders crappy car breaks down.

This is more of a slice of life, low angst, no drama, cutesy, cosy read about two men finding what they are looking for in each other. Xander just wants to be loved and for the person he is with to make an effort for him and Cope upto now has only ever been with women but hasn't often because he was left feeling indifferent and underwhelmed from the encounters. Turns out Cope is Demisexual and it takes him meeting Xander and them forming a connection for him to realise this about himself. This was a slower burn than book one and maybe a bit too low angst/conflict for me as I found myself skimming/zoning out a little here and there, however it had some good humour, the communication between the MCs and interactions with the side characters were great and the spice was good when you get there but for me the chemistry between these two didn't sizzle as much as it did with Shooter & Sterling from book one. Overall an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to book three.
