Summary

In the fourth novel in the New York Times best-selling Fixer-Upper Mystery series, contractor Shannon Hammer must restore the Christmas spirit by clearing her father's name....

Even during the holidays, Shannon is more spackle than sparkle, which is why she leaps at the chance to transform a grand old Victorian mansion into 10 charming apartments for homeless families. Filled with the spirit of the season, all of Lighthouse Cove turns out to help - including her best friends, a troupe of far-from-angelic Santa Claus impersonators, and her father, Jack.

But their merriment is soon dashed by a heated scuffle between Jack and the miserly president of the bank who's backing the project. When the man is murdered, all eyes are on Jack, and visions of prison time dance in Shannon's head. Now she needs to pull off a crime-solving miracle before her father's Christmas goose is cooked....

Good holiday story.

I enjoyed this book, but there were a number of places where the narrator repeats herself. It’s as if changes were made, and the original narration was left in rather than edited out. That shouldn’t happen when people pay or use valuable credits for books.

This Audible book has some flaws

This story has left some loss ends without conclusions---but that could carry to the next story.
Just a warning-about the audible edit.
The biggest problem with this one book--- there are a hand full of time (mostly in the last quarter of the story) that repeat sentences already read. Very annoying.

I could do without the cheesy romance ...

I read the first 3 books in this series & loved them. Then there was a 2 year hiatus without audiobooks recorded & finally book 4 came out! While I liked the story and mystery itself, I found Shannon's romance story line to be incredibly juvenile and annoying. The whole mean girl rival sabotaging her relationship seems straight out of high school. The belief that Mac would be afraid to call or text her was so absurd that I had to remind myself time and time again that these were adults... It ruined a lot of the story

Classic Shannon Hammer

Is 10 Santa's enough? what a cute baby.....It's not a kitten...What do I do with it?
Homes for needy families. The still evil and selfish Whitney and her sidekick Jennifer play high school games hoping to destroy a budding romance so they can laugh at their victims. Carpenter's. A Christmas Parade with a goal to get shelter pets homes. A mansion. oh yeah, of course, there is a murder needs solving

Murder in the Mansion

As with the previous novels in this series, Kate Carlisle has assembled a lively group of hometown characters. In this particular offering, our heroine is breaking down a mansion into separate apartments for previously homeless individuals and their families. I loved the descriptions not only of the people, but the tasks that they took on to ready the old dilapidated mansion made of quality materials, for habitation. The descriptions of stripping paint and refitting old built in items of furniture fascinated me. That is one of the things that this author does so well. Her descriptions of the carpentry and restoration of old Victorian homes are full of detail, but never boring. The murder occurred to a suitably villainous character, a banker. The culprit was not immediately identified since the victim had MANY enemies. Altogether enjoyable story.

Think light hearted Christmas story

A Wonderful Life for Shannon! Small town, a mean and hated banker, Shannon Hammer volunteering her time and construction company to turn a Victorian into apartments for low income families, and then throw in a dozen Santas. Except with all else that is going on, Shannon has to clear her father of murder. OH, such a WONDERFUL LIFE.

Lots of Repeats

I loved the story, but there are a lot of repeats. I would still recommend buying this book.

Why is there a new narrator?

I love this series and was very excited to start this book. Two minutes into it I realized something is not right. Five minutes into it I realized this is not the same narrator as the previous books. I have made it 34 minutes into the book and I honestly do not think I can go any further. Alex Barrett may be good for other stories, but not this one! Awful!

Love the female voices, males not so much

With the exception of two the male characters all sounded like stereotypical nerds with nasal congestion.
