Summary

To commit the perfect murder, you need the perfect cover.

On a cold icy morning, a mother wakes to find her daughter’s blood-soaked body frozen to the road. Who would carry out such a horrific killing on the victim’s doorstep?

Straight off her last harrowing case, Detective Erika Foster is feeling fragile but determined to lead the investigation. As she sets to work, she finds reports of assaults in the same quiet South London suburb where the woman was killed. One chilling detail links them to the murder victim - they were all attacked by a figure in black wearing a gas mask.

Erika is on the hunt for a killer with a terrifying calling card. The case gets more complicated when she uncovers a tangled web of secrets surrounding the death of the beautiful young woman.

Yet just as Erika begins to piece the clues together, she is forced to confront painful memories of her past. Erika must dig deep, stay focused and find the killer. Only this time, one of her own is in terrible danger....

From the global million-copy best-selling author comes a totally heart-racing, hold-your-breath listen that will keep you hooked until the very last minute.

Absolutely perfect

The Erika Foster books are about my favourite of all crime series and the latest book is one of the best. Ericka is a fascinating character who I have grown to really care about and the other characters, both goodies and baddies, are real and convincing. The plot develops quickly and moves in a range of different directions before coming together in an unexpected and very satisfying conclusion.

Jan Cramer is one of my favourite narrators, she really inhabits all the characters.

Can’t wait for the next one.

Unexpected ending

Up to the standard of the rest of this series. I must say I was getting a bit fed up with dour Erika, always disobeying orders, behaving appallingly and getting away with it. Nice to hear a bit more about her and her colleagues. Clever plot, and an unexpected ending. Jan Cramer is an excellent narrator

Really enjoyed it

Great listen, with more than strand running through it. Very likeable characters, good narration, just the occasional awkward accent. Only detractions were the few instances when the characters spoke in a most uncharacteristic manner, as if reading from a reference book or policy document.
Well worth investing in.

Ridiculous plot

I have really enjoyed the Erika foster series but this book really let the side down. Very disappointing ending and seemed a very rushed conclusion, as if she realised there was only a few chapters left so needed to fit it all in. Narrator was poor making every character sound rude and aggressive. A real let down after such a great series

Fascinating murder mystery; great detective work!

Robert Bryndza is among the best living authors of the modern detective/police procedural genre. Deadly Secrets, Book 6 in his Detective Erika Foster series, is as close to perfection as any novel I have read. Erika Foster is among my favorite protagonists. Jan Cramer's narration is outstanding. I highly recommend Deadly Secrets and the other novels in the Erika Foster series.

The best Robert Bryndza.

I have known read all six of the Erika Foster books and this one is the best thus far. The story is so good, the narration is amazing vivid. I stayed on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I also love the fact that has a great love and respect for her father in law. I felt very invested in all the main characters. Although I wish that Erika had gotten knocked up by Peterson. I also appreciate that Erika was a stronger woman. A very good read.

another good one

The author puts some good twists and turns into this crime thriller. There are some especially cruel things happening. And, there are many current days issues to spice it up.

Usually when you find a crime series you really like you empathize with the detective even with all their flaws. Erika has had her share of tough breaks but she keeps trucking on.

I'll look forward to the next installment in the series.

Love Erika Foster

I stumbled across this series of books and I was hooked after book 1! I hope Robert Bryndza will continue her character! Every story was well written and intriguing!
Jan Cramer’s narration was spectacular! I would truly, laugh, cry and even get angry with the characters. She does such an incredible job pulling you in to each character.
Well Done!!

Another great sequel, but...

This sequel seemed to fall a little flat towards the end. The story was drug out with a lot of whodunnit prospects that went back and forth. Glad to see someone else get some spotlight and very happy to see Erika finally getting herself together. Just not enough excitement in this one.
