About this listen

After a dramatic end to the Justin Wilson case, psychic Tennyson Grimm heads to a small island off the coast of Maine, hoping to clear his mind and renew his spirit. When the dead won’t let Tennyson rest, the psychic curses his gift and orders the spirits to leave him. He wakes the next morning to silence and finds truth in the saying, "be careful what you wish for.”

Detective Ronan O’Mara has been tasked by his boss with the chore of finding a more "sedate" cold case to investigate this time around. The handsome cop is only too happy to oblige. He chooses the 20-year-old case of a family patriarch who was murdered on Christmas night, 1997. The only possible suspects are either his wife or his daughter, who were both with him at the time of his death. Ronan figures this one will be a piece of cake. All he has to do is get his favorite medium to talk to the deceased man's spirit.

When Tennyson reveals the truth about what happened in Maine, he’s forced to take a hard look at who he thought he was and what his gift really means. Ronan does his best to help his lover cope with his new normal while he uses good old-fashioned police work to figure out a family who put the "dis" in dysfunction.

Will Tennyson be able to find the key to unlock his gift, or will the spirits stay dead silent?

Silence isn't always golden, after what happened at the end of their last case, Ten needs some time away so he goes to Maine. Where after getting no peace from the local spirits he throws up a mental block and loses his gift and the ability to speak to the dead, throwing his whole life into turmoil. Ronan is missing Ten like crazy and the Captain wants him to solve a boring case with no bullets! So the case he chooses is the 20year old murder of a man in Christmas night.
This book is slightly lighter then the previous two even so our duo go through a lot together and their relationship grows in strength and they be come closer realising that they work better together.
Michael Pauley does another great job, this is another good book in the series.

Just like visiting old friends with the added benefit of Michael Pauley’s interpretation of all the character voices. Every book in the series is full of paranormal activity, this one particularly hard on Ten and Ronan. It’s an enthralling story and a lovely ending. With so much more to look forward to.

Like the other books in this series I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the adventures of Ten and Ronan as they’re investigating cold cases using Ten’s gift only there’s a problem...Ten no longer has use of his gift.

There’s lots of challenges for both MCs in this book...the least of which is how to solve the cold case using normal police methods, without the added extra of Ten’s gifts. I loved that this story focused so much on their relationship and the trials and tribulations and how they were trying to adjust to Ten’s new “normal”.

Great listen!

Can they solve a cold case without Ten’s gift?

This is another really good story in the series. I didn't feel it was quite as exciting overall and the 'mystery' element wasn't as strong as the previous two books. The focus of this story was more on the relationship between Ronin and Tenn, and Tenn's relationship with his psychic gift. I have warmed more and more to Ronin over the last 2 books and I absolutely LOVED him in this one. Even when Tenn is being a real idiot, Ronin supports him. There's a really pleasing character growth - for both characters by the end of the book - which I enjoyed. The narration was just as good as the previous two books and the consistency of the voices makes this series such a great listen. Highly recommended as part of the series - but you really need to listen to or read the first two books to fully enjoy this one.

Another great story

This is the third book in the Cold Case Psychic series. It picks up where the second book left off and the 'silence' is really interesting. The case is just ok, but this book is more about the people than the procedures. I wanted to slap Ten most of the time, but thankfully Ronan didn't agree with me. The developing stories of the other characters were really interesting and I can't wait to see what happens with Kevin.
Michael Pauley continues to be the 5 gold star narrator he always is, I just adore his work.
Looking forward to book 4.
