Critic reviews

"There is zombie fiction and then there is crawl-out-of-the-grave-and-drag-you-to-hell zombie fiction. Day by Day Armageddon is hands down the best zombie book I have ever read. Dawn of the Dead meets 28 Days Later doesn't even come close to describing how fantastic this thriller is. It is so real, so terrifying, and so well written that I slept with not one, but two loaded Glocks under my pillow for weeks afterwards. J. L. Bourne is the new king of hardcore zombie action!" A brilliantly realised book. Didnt think at first the diary layout would work but it did especially when narrated as it really is only one voice that describes the story. The diary format also kept the story moving at a very fast rate as a lot happens in this book.

Great story

I quite liked this book, I thought possibly a bit slow, but it was consistent and I like that.
unique perspective writing and i'll definitely follow the series.

Where does Day By Day Armageddon rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Up there with the best.

What other book might you compare Day By Day Armageddon to, and why?

World War Z fans will find the diary format a treat as it really gets into the psyche of the main character and the Narrator is by far my favorite.

Which character – as performed by Jay Snyder – was your favourite?

The lead character

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It got me feeling anxious when the action kicked in, sad when morality struck and genuinely on the edge of my seat throughout.

Any additional comments?

Fantastic story with a great narrator. Jay Snyder really captures the gritty, unnerving atmosphere of the post apocalyptic world and the small group of survivors battling with the enemy and the will to stay alive. Recommend to any zombie fan!

A fantastic story to get your teeth into

I enjoyed this . It's as good as any other of its kind but rather short. I definitely wanted it to continue. I notice that book 2 is 1 credit or £20. Really, for that price we need it to be very much longer. I won't be buying book 2, even though I know I would enjoy it, because it's very poor value for money.

Disappointingly short

The story was OK, a fairly standard apocalypse and survival plot line.
I found it was one of those that once started it felt like to was about to go somewhere but never quite made it.
It wasn't bad enough to abandon but I was happy to have it in the car so I had other things to think about, not sure I'd have finished if I'd been at home.
The problem at its heart is I never really got engaged with any of the characters, I never really felt any jeopardy and everything seemed to work out to easily.
Some themes were started but not taken any further, this maybe corrected in the follow up(s) but not sure I'll go looking for it.
