About this listen

For those who reside in the outer regions of Aleria, the day of bestowal is what determines their destiny.

It is the holy day of the Goddess. The day that allows those of age to step forward and receive their blessing, to embark on the path that she has chosen for them. To receive their Classification, which dictates their strength and ability. For those people, the holy day of bestowal represents fate itself.

For Dante, it represents salvation.

Years have past since he found himself abandoned without memories: years of hunger, ostracization, and solitude on the streets of Alazel without any hope of reprieve; of entrapment at the hands of the creatures that roamed the wilds beyond the city walls that made leaving impossible.

Now, there is a chance for everything to change.

In a cruel world where power could be gained through slaughter, strength meant everything. For Dante, that meant that the last his hopes lay in the Goddess' blessing. A combat Classification would be a lifeline, a way for him to escape the hell he had been living in. Anything else would only mean death.

This is a fantasy story that is heavily influence by LitRPG elements, which include: classes, status screens, skills, leveling, and a form of experience gain, among other things.

This is an absolutely gripping story from start to finish, I honestly couldn’t put it down and used my whole day off to listen to this book. Eagerly anticipating more from this author.

A hidden gem

I occasionally write reviews but this was just to good to not do so it is the best fantasy book I have had the pleasure of reading.
It's grity reality in a game like world Is captivating, furthermore the main character is realistic and respondes to the situation around him, something which many authors struggle with and end up going for a perfect hero cutting off any development before the book begins not this book though. The seamless integration of the game world allows for brilliant world building and immersion. I often find that narrators take time to get used to but Jeff Hays is excellent and provides the right pace for the reading allowing the reader to jump in with out discomfort(in my case any way). well done to Antonio Terzini! :)

It really captures the LitRPG genre. I only hope that the author won't take too long to make the second book.

Fantastic!

I love this style book and really enjoy Jeff Hays.
Only problem I had was relating to Dante, yes he is in a kill or be killed situation but he’s to ruthless to have affinity with the character.
Still an excellent book.

Excellent RPGLit character development needs work
