Summary

If you enjoy suspense, romance, humor, exotic locations, and intriguing mystery, then follow amateur sleuth Sarah Woods on an exciting ride with three different adventures in this audio collection. This series is intended for mature audiences and may contain objectionable behavior.

An Appointment with Murder

The first book in the series introduces you to massage therapist, Sarah Woods. While working late one evening at her office, Sarah finds her assistant has been strangled in the short time she was in the back with a client. Who would have done such a horrible thing? Was it a random killing or someone she knew? Although the police are investigating, Sarah can't seem to stay out of it and embarks on a journey to find the killer.

An Act of Deceit

Sarah Woods adventures continue in this book when she decides to work for Carter, the unorthodox private eye from Boston. Sarah must go way beyond her comfort zone as the pair find creative ways to expose a cheating husband, Marty Quinn. When Marty ends up dead, the assignment takes a whole new twist. This is a fast paced, fun mystery listen. A great blend of witty dialogue, suspense, and enough adult humor to keep it interesting.

An Island of Illusions

Sara and her husband are off to Hawaii to enjoy a much needed vacation, but when the PI she's worked for in the past shows up, she realizes it's a set up and he needs her help in finding a missing child. The suspense builds when Max, a security expert who Sarah holds a torch for shows up, and the main suspect in the child's disappearance is killed. Can Sarah help find this missing child? This adventure filled novel will keep you guessing until the very end.

Oh.......

These stories might have been entertaining. Unfortunately the reader's pedantic, atonal delivery persuaded me to quit the first story after about an hour.

Robotic narration and stilted writing.

Different people like different readers, perhaps someone would like this. I did not.

No

How could the performance have been better?

Pacing and inflexion would help.

Simple Stories poorly read and recorded

What would have made Sarah Woods Mystery Series: Books 1-3 better?

A different Narrator and a better recording. If the narrator had spoken more slowly and in a more interesting manner and if the recording didnt sound as though it was read straight into an iphone, the simple stories are OK

Would you be willing to try another book from Jennifer L. Jennings? Why or why not?

Possibly - easy listening to pass a car journey if I have absolutely nothing else to listen to

Would you be willing to try another one of Erin Coleman’s performances?

Never

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Sarah Woods Mystery Series: Books 1-3?

The scenes were fine, just the narration that made it hard to listen to for long periods

Any additional comments?

I should have read the reviews before purchasing the recording - my own fault!

Mystery series, that leaves you wondering why...

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I was left wondering why this was even published.

Was Sarah Woods Mystery Series: Books 1-3 worth the listening time?

Not at all, it was a waste of time. Wouldn't get another book by this author.

A book for middle achool children, not for adults

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would not recommend this to a friend. This book is sophomoric and simple to the point of boredom. The whole book ends with the simple explanation of who done it. No shock, no wisdom no reality check.

What was most disappointing about Jennifer L. Jennings’s story?

Her stories get slow in the middle.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

She was unable to credibly and consistently switch between characters.

Could you see Sarah Woods Mystery Series: Books 1-3 being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes, these books are on the level of a TV sitcom. Sandra Bullock as Sara for sure. The others are a bit of a stretch for my mind.

Any additional comments?

Book had a certain flow that showed the author could write clearly.

OK story but awful recording

What would have made Sarah Woods Mystery Series: Books 1-3 better?

The characters are 2 dimensional and not very interesting. I am not sure what I expected of a series about a masage therapist turned dective.

What was most disappointing about Jennifer L. Jennings’s story?

I did listen to the whole thing hoping that it would get better. It didn't. It was a waste of my time and money

How could the performance have been better?

The recording sounded like it was done at the bottom of a well, really tinny and hollow sounding. I thought at first it was my speakers so tried listening on headphones and other speakers still just as bad.
The narrator's nasal voice also did not help. Since the story is told in the first person supposedly in the voice of the 40 year old main charecter the reader should have been someone with a more mature sounding voice. Erin Coleman sounds like someone who is barely 20.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The story was OK maybe something for light reading at the beach.
