About this listen

An insidious cabal has decided to change the direction of the United Alliance of Stars (UAS) with a coup d’etat - but not through a military takeover. They have devised a subtler coup: the manipulation of the Committee, the 15-star system that sets policy for the UAS.

This group of terrorists, calling itself WEP - for “We the People” - have issued an ultimatum: revise the UAS Constitution, or they will kill those who oppose the change. And good to their word, shortly afterward, Committee delegates are being killed.

The UAS Committee enlists their de facto troubleshooter, Anna Paulus, to shut down the cabal, but they insists she leave the NIA and manage UAS Committee Security. For Anna it’s a nightmare scenario, leaving her safe and comfortable world for a completely new environment dominated by macho men with years of combat experience. Adding to her concerns, she can imagine herself WEP’s prime target.

Anna soon realizes that things are not what they seem, and the cabal is quick to recognize her involvement as a potential problem. To make matters worse, the cabal is only months from succeeding - and only Anna and her red-headed krait stand in their way.

It’s difficult to tell if the lead character or the author is growing with experience. Each book in the series is an improvement & more mature than the last. I get slightly annoyed when books are written with the obvious intent to produce a series rather than a proper novel & the ending of this currently last in the series has a poor & abrupt ending, to try & get me to buy the next episode! All I need to say on that issue is Stephan King.

This was an appropriate ending to the series. Again, improvement on the previous books though missed some of the characters from previous books. All good things have to end and it was sensible to end here. Can’t promote up again at end like previous books. Bye.

I love the way the reactions of those who look down on Anna are described, always makes me smile as I always looked younger than my yrs in my career,
this has been a fascinating series, always tense and suspenseful, with great stories excellently written to minute detail, full of secondary characters who often appear in further books,
I hope there is another as this one ends abruptly but with no cliffhanger, I would miss Anna and red, red needs a conclusion.
Once again superb performance of narration.

truly well written and a very enticing, gripping and thrilling story line. CR.DAEMS please please bring us more of both Anna Paulus and my other current favourite, the outstanding Ghost of the tasmanian special forces. bothe excellent strong characters and not to mention extremely fun to listen to and read about. wonderful narration by the way.
