About this listen

Sold into slavery by her father and forsaken by the man she was supposed to marry, young Egyptian Kiya must serve a mistress who takes pleasure in her humiliation. When terrifying plagues strike Egypt, Kiya is in the middle of it all.

Choosing to flee with the Hebrews, Kiya finds herself reliant on a strange God and drawn to a man who despises her people. With everything she's ever known swept away, and now facing the trials of the desert, will she turn back toward Egypt or surrender her life and her future to Yahweh?

There was a lot going on and different threads which came together. It was good to have the backstory of the lives in Egypt and seeing the Exodus from a different perspective. Likeable characters. I do wish Connilyn would write more books based around the men of the Bible with male narrators. All the overly female input can get a bit overpowering and makes the story lop-sided. This book is much better than the next one about midwifery however, but certainly not her best series in my opinion.

Really interesting and an easy listen

This book is so rich with historical details and spiritual insight. I would never have thought of the Egyptians' side of Exodus, and loved how she explained the events we read about so often but can't really imagine being a reality. The character development was brilliantly done.
The romance was so natural and beautiful, but also not the focus of the book, which I loved.

The narration was great and captured the characters perfectly.
Overall an Amazing book. 10/10 recommend.

Absolutely beautiful

A pleasant and interesting retelling. I've listened till the end. Got more engaging towards the end. Much better if it's played at 1.05 or even 1.10 speed.

A nice retelling

I felt like I was on the lead characters journey and enjoyed the descriptions which vividly brought my imagination of Eqypt & the middle east at the time depicted. I wanted to hear more!

I didn't want the story to end.
