Summary

I was starting to think I knew what I was dealing with here at the university best known as Villain Academy. Not so much. But can I really trust a shocking revelation from someone who's proven to be my enemy?

There's no way to answer that without diving in. If my mother is still out there alive, I have to uncover the truth. Even if it means putting myself back in the hands of the mages who've betrayed me before.

The other scions have my back now, with all the trouble that's brought them. How much more will they have to sacrifice before we can find some kind of peace? I'm ready to fight for my newfound life, my family, and the guys I'm falling for...but this battle may bring more casualties than I can bear.

Corrupt Alchemy is the fifth book in a university-age paranormal academy series. Expect magical villainy, a tough heroine who bends to no one’s will, a dollop of steam, and a slow-burn enemies-to-lovers reverse harem romance where there'll be no choosing required.

Keeps getting better!

I don't know how Eva does it, but with every book the story gets better and better! I'm dying with the cliffhanger though lol.

Love it

I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review. I honestly enjoy this series so much it has so many twists and turns it’s picked straight up from the previous book and hearing about her real mother is possibly alive?! It has a definite heartbreaking moment in this book but also a great more depth into character building especially with Malcom and Declan. Really want to get to the next book now!

Still so good I can't wait to get to the next one!

When you thought that now all the Scions have to deal with is how to become one, you are just surprided by the new plot twists that Eva exploits in this installment to make the story even more compelling. Again, the RH component is a true part of the story and not just an excuse and you look forward to it because it completes the relationship Rory builds with each of her guys and leaves hoping that the dynamic they have created through their love makings will continue when they become barons!!!

Book 5

Great narration and nicely paced storyline that I easily listened to in one day. This story is addicting. So much corruption and plot twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. My only complaint is that these books are too short.

Devoured

I devoured this over Christmas (which is quite a feat since I usually listen when driving to work) because I was so desperate for the next installment and once again, Chase absolutely delivers. Developments between Rory and Malcolm are perfectly paced, there was intrigue and action (I'm still waiting for the arsehole grandparents to strike back and I have been expecting it for 2 books: thanks for keeping me guessing) My one possible complaint is that I'd have preferred a little more heat

A heart gripping story

Wow I finished this in a day. I couldn’t put my earphones down. It picks up where book 4 ended. The question of what happened to Malcom with his father at the end of Book 4. What Lilian told Rory about her mother is it True. Will Jude confront his father about June not being a true Scion . If he does will Jude father want to do away with him. Rory wants to find her birth mother but once they do how will Rory mother state be. You need to listen to this and it will blow your mind Meg and Stephen performance was unbelievable. How both of them did the characters, it will draw you in and just floor you

Yes! It's a very good day!

Any day one of these books comes out on audio is a good day, because it's like I'm reuniting with my friends after time away. I just always know I'm going to get an excellent vocal performance by Meg Sylvan and Stephen Dexter, and an even better story. In Corrupt Alchemy, a lot of the drive of the story is focused on hunting down a particular family member that was revealed to possibly be alive at the end of the last book. At the same time, Rory's relationship with the guys are still growing. And as for the guys, they're all dealing the fallout from their actions/decisions in the last book. Rory still struggles with discovering not everything is so black and white and there's good and bad on both sides of the coin here. Really, there's so much going on, but I'm being vague so as not to spoil it. All-in-all, it's business as usual at Royal Villain Academy, and I mean that in the best possible way. Can't wait to see what happens in the next book!

Changes

Rory and Malcolm's relationship takes a turn for the better in this book. Rory has to handle two major changes in this book. One is good and one is not. This is a series book but this book you could read as a stand alone because everything got recapped in this book. Which as a person reading this as a series I didn't like that part of the book. Big changes are happening and this book kicks them off, it will be interesting to see what happens now.

Love the narration

This series keeps on surprising me. Just when you think things can't get much worse, they do. The scions finally start working together, only to be outplayed by other plot twists. The extent of barons's cruelty is nauseating and left me feeling the same helplessness as the main characters.  The plot is twisted, cruel, unpredictable and I can't help but love it, although I'm on the edge of my seat, biting my nails off because nothing seems to go right. Ugh... Plot and character development are amazing and the world the author created is expanding with every book. The narrators of the audiobook are doing an amazing job giving these characters life. The difference between all the characters is subtle but clear and shows off their skills!

Team Rory all the way!!!

Ok so Rory was cleared and now she is trying to find her mother. Rory will have to work with Lillian to do this. Meanwhile her relationships with the Scions keep getting hotter. Even Malcolm comes around in this book. We meet some new Joymancers characters and we lean that the Barrons are still up to no good. The Scions will have to deal with consequences from the trial in the last book and Rory will have two surprises in this book. One of them made me cry so hard!!!! I love the duel narration- Meg & Stephen do an amazing job. Eva is making me anxious as hell, as I can see there are many storm's brewing. I can't wait to see what happen next!

The mother of all twists!

Eva Chase’s imagination has no bounds! There are so many twists in this series that leave me dumbfounded at times. This book takes place mostly outside of the “Villain Academy”. They are searching for someone very important but can Rory put her trust on someone so treacherous as one of the Black Suits?! Narration continues to be excellent and brings the story to life. I love having two narrators! They make a great team. There is so much going on in this book. I have enjoyed seeing how much Rory and the guys relationships have grown. They have come such a long way from the obnoxious bullies they were. Rory finds out that not everything is as back and white as she previously thought. There are questionable actions from both the Joymancers & Fearmances to take into account. Every book in this series is hard to put down and this one is no exception. The world building and character development is amazing and totally entertaining from beginning to conclusion. I’m looking forward to finding out what will happen next. These Barons are ruthless and I’m apprehensive to see what horrific things they will cook up next!
