Summary

I've won one victory against my enemies, but it seems the barons are just getting started with their new, vicious schemes. They'll stop at nothing to expand their power.

Any move I make to oppose them could have horrible consequences for both me and the guys I love. My only hope is playing along until the right opportunity comes my way.

There's a chance I could sway my mother if I can earn her trust. She may be brutal when she feels she needs to be, but I've seen glimpses of a softer side underneath. Can I walk the line between obedience and resistance without losing so much more than I already have?

Mind blowing!!

Just wow, this book blew my mind, just when I thought the Scions had faced their most shocking revelations, there are worse to come! In a truly diabolical plot twist Malcom discovers more disturbing facts about his father and the confrontations continue, I was hooked from the start and hung on every word, I can't believe theres only one more book in the series.

Can’t believe this is the penultimate book!

I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.

This is the 7th book in this amazing series! Only one more book to go and I can’t believe it! There’s so much to be said about this book so much action and not just the steamy kind! The scions are taking action against the barons! So many twists and plots and I’m not going to spoil them by writing them down but there’s so many moments that have you in shock. And that cliffhanger ending once again aahhh! So looking forward to the final conclusion!!

wow!!!

wow!! how can Eva drop such a bomb and just keep on writing her story as if nothing major was revealed? I am not talking about the cliffhanger at the end of the story which is all good too!!!
I am talking about the bomb Maalcolm just dropped and then... then... left me wanting to know more.I am glad that Rory and her boys decided to be together no matter what but I still cannot get past that hint that could change the entire group dynamic. it makes me want to jump in and read the next instalment right now!!!!

What the damn hell?!?!?!

I normally write these reviews and comment on the storyline etc but this time "Eva, what the hell did you do to those poor characters?!?!?!" is the best I can manage. The wider world storyline blows wide open, every single one of the pentacle has a major confrontation in some way or another - I mean, what she (the author) did to Malcolm was just plain cruel!

I can't wait for the final installment - I have no idea how this is going to play out!

Only one more to go

Hopefully you have read all the books in the series up to this point so you will know who everyone is and what is going on. This book starts right about where the last one left off . Rory is still trying to get to know her mother and hopes to be able to change her mind about the students at the Academy flaunting their magic and harassing the Nary students. Unfortunately, things are about to get worse instead of better. The Council has decided to extend the area where magic can be openly used to the whole neighboring town. Not only that, but a magical field keeps the townspeople trapped with no communication to the outside world. How are Rory and the guys going to stop this madness?

Of course there are other things going on. The guys are having their own problems with family. One will be attacked and lose his magic. Several will go to the extreme to protect siblings. It is Rory's mother, though, that will finally go off the deep end.

I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

Why is this still so good???

This is an ongoing story that just keeps getting more solid, this is the first RH that I've enjoyed for so long, its perfection. Usually I get bored with the premise, but not this time the characters and the story were done so well. This is one of the better volumes though, because I enjoyed the being, middle and ending, which is so rare. The narration is great too, from the male and femle narrators and thats always boss when they fit the story.

Favorite of the series!

Probably my favorite book of the series so far!! I really enjoyed the plot of this story (and the love/steamy scenes too!!), it made me want to continue to do housework so I could listen haha. I thought the battles and showdowns teased throughout the book would have been epic in like a tv show setting. This would be a great option for that (more than other RHs I have read in the past) just because of the focus on the academy, powers, Naries, and romance/steam. Nothing is overpowering the other, which is great. Love the balance ❤️

I really loved seeing the group come together in this one, they really are making a cohesive unit (political and romantic) and I love how they are there for each other. Case and point with Jude’s attack. Finally Jude leaned on someone else and because of that, the others could save his life. I was saddened with how he kept seeing himself and putting himself down but my heart was happy when Rory kept reiterating to him that she loved him no matter what. I loved seeing more walls come down between them, especially when people finally make a stand with the Barons. It was refreshing to see what the scions do is a group decision/discussion and no one has sole responsibility of making decisions. OOOOH and the scion guard was brilliant!!

I was so excited to listen to the part where Rory and Connar scheme against Connar’s mom (she totally deserved what she got!) and am kinda liking see Rory and Malcolm’s parents become even more unhinged. I was really happy to be shocked with the Holden twist, that made me smile so much and I cannot wait to get more of him hopefully in the spinoffs because he is going to be a great character (hopefully more airtime with Noah and Agnes!). I was surprised with Maggie too, I thought she was super shady and going to end up being a super bad guy but loved the plot development and reveal. She really grew on me in book 7 and 8, not gonna lie! The side characters I thought really got some amazing exposure/highlights towards the end of the series. Cressida and Victory impressed me in this one, seeing them become more humane after not being forced to stay in the same mindset all their lives. They finally snapped out of it/saw the monsters for who they were and learned they didn’t have to be them too.

Ok, enough gushing about this book! Nothing new to say about the narration, was done really well. I think the feelings we got at the end were so realistic, I felt like I was in this world with them. The heartache Rory feels when she can’t get through to her mom hit me right in the feels. Amazing job to the two again, no constructive feedback from me on this one.

100000% recommend. I am happy Eva isn’t done with this world yet, I will be so sad and the book hangover will be so harsh once she writes the final THE END haha.

Wow of Wows

This was one explosive happening after another!! Some major events and would be revelations came to light and this leaves the reader with a furrowed brown and a grim frown. Nothing is ever easily achieved for Rory, she's playing a dangerous game without knowing all of the rules. It isn't her fault that she lacks the intel needed, but people around her keep getting hurt or killed in the most magically horrific of ways. This concluded with another cliffhanger, but it's pretty mild up against other works from Ms. Chase. I can't wait to jump into the final book because this promises to be one race that will determine the fate of all living beings.

Grim Witchery

Things get even worse for the Naries as the Fearmancers (and Barons) force their agenda in Bloodstone. The suspense is reaching all new highs as I expected danger lurking in every corner. The scions are walking a tightrope to gain enough trust as well as keep everyone safe from the powerhungry tyranny and the barons. Buckle up buttercup, because this is a one way ticket to crazytown!

Grim Witchery!!

Eva Chase did it again! I have no words to express my feelings. This book started off with Jude getting attacked. The attack on Jude has only strengthened the bonds between Rory and the other Scions. The Scions are trying their best to stop the Barons. Since Rory's mom has come back in the Barony, the Barons have been ramping up their plans to corrupt. Just when Rory and the boys thought there was no way out Eva throws a major plot twist at the end. I can't wait for the final book to blow me out of the water! The narration was fantastic!

One of my favorites!

It is pretty amazing how good this series really gets. I hope you start with the first book in this series because you do not want to miss the world building and character development that leads up to this seventh book.

Narration is on point and brings the story to life. I’m glad they have narrated every book in this series. They do an excellent job.

There is so much going on in this book that it is hard to put it down! The Barons are up to no good causing havoc with their plans. Both the school and the neighboring city are included in their insane schemes.

Things seem to be getting worse and worse around them but Rory and the other Scions keep strengthening and solidifying their resolves by making some major shifts to protect some of their loved ones and the Nary students.

Even though they come up with some great strategies to stop the craziness going on around them, there is a bombshell dropped at the conclusion. One of the Barons has totally lost their marbles!

I really enjoyed this book. This is probably one of my favorites in the series.

Another Hit for the series!!

Grim Witchery by Eva Chase and narrated by Meg Sylvan and Stephen Dexter is the 7th book in the Royals of Villain Academy.
Now that Rory has managed to stop one plot by the Barons, she is trying to sway her mother to her side, but doesn't know is she will make it. The Scions are in agreement that things need to change before the campus falls apart. Civil war is close and the Barons aren't backing down. The Narys at the school are being tortured daily and the Scions cant make it stop.
Dive in and see what Rory is willing to risk to save her school, her people and the Narys on campus.
This is a reverse harem novel and I would only recommend for 18+.
Would I listen to this again? YES
Would I recommend this book/series to others? YES and already have
The main characters are all of consenting age and is set in a university setting.
