About this listen
When I stumbled into a Mafia-run club seeking a job, I was looking for protection. Little did I know I’d need protection from him.
Conor O’Callahan was exactly the kind of danger I was trying to avoid. He was gorgeous as sin with an accent hotter than Hades, but that’s where the charm ended. He was also cynical, cold, and downright cranky.
You could imagine my surprise when he gave me a proposition: marry him or lose my life.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. I’ve learned to do what’s necessary to survive in this world, and that includes marrying a mobster. Regardless of what he might say, it’s only temporary.
It’s not like I’m going to fall for him. Because that would be stupid, right?
The Boston Underworld series consists of six full-length stand-alones that can be listened to in any order.

This series is one of my favorites, I have read them all multiple times but I recently listened to the audiobook and wow was it absolutely delicious.

I do like Tracy Marks as the narrator. She's been the consistent narrator throughout the entire series and I appreciate that since A. Zavaelli used the single female narrator throughout the entire series. I really appreciate the consistent use of the same, lone female. I would have loved a male in the narrative... ideally throughout the entire series. Such strong male characters really could use that strong voice. However, Tracy Marks did a great job.

Conor's softer than the other's on the series!

The connection between Conor and Ivy was instant even though they both doubted the other which inevitably led to trouble. The trouble isn't what one could imagine.. and when you think you have it figured out then BAM plot twist! The struggles and the turmoil that Ivy went through are unfathomable. The hardship make her the person she is today and it shows with everything she does.
I loved the tenderness and love with Conor, for him being such a "bad guy" he was such a great guy when it came to family matters. It made my heart do a sweet little pitter patter in my chest.
It was odd to me that there was only one narrator when the story is told in multiple POVs but she did a really great job of having a different accent for the different characters and displaying the emotions greatly. I just wished there would've been dual narration.. but that's just me.
There was much more to this book than I expected.
