Summary
Shayne thinks he has nothing left to lose....
On his way home after losing his job, Shayne's bad day goes farther downhill when a truck slams into him. The sexy man who pulls him from the wreckage, seeing him at his lowest, is either the best or worst thing to happen to Shayne in a long time.
Challenge accepted....
While Lincoln feels guilty for totaling Shayne's car, he can't regret having met the man. Something about Shayne calls to him on a new level and brings out a side in him even Lincoln can't explain.
When these two opposites collide it's only a matter a time before one falls.
Shayne's first love will always be hockey. With the out-of-work goalie on the hunt for a new team, Lincoln knows their time together is short-lived. It'll take a veteran player to sneak past the guard on Lincoln's heart, but Shayne is up for the fight.

Hard Hit book1
Audio Review Only - DNF at 8:36 into the story.. I tried.. I really did, but I just can't.. I have Nothing against female narrators but there are some books they should not narrate... M/M books are a big one... I could not get into this Audio at all. I mean she's reading the story which is ok, but then trying to convert her voice into two separate male Characters.. why?!? why not just have a male narrator?!? I just don't understand. And this is my own opinion, others might really like the narration. idk?!?!
**But I do have this in E-book as a to-read so I will be coming back to this at a later date to read the actual story, since I do like the other books I've previously read by this author. And I will update my review for the book at that point. But I just cant do this audio version..
Sorry :(

So Disappointed
How did the narrator detract from the book?
I just can't listen to a women's voice narrate a M/M book. It was horrible. I really was looking forward to this story, but the audible version is a DNF.

Female Narrators for M/M books are an ABOMINATION
Book cannot even be tolerated for one minute because it is an anathema to hear a female voice narrate a M/M romance.

Narration
Story felt incomplete and the narrator was the wrong choice. The narrator would be fine for another book, but why would they choose a female narrator for a mm romance? I think there was one female character in the book and she was the les than a couple minutes so why a female narrator?

Female Narrator?!
I just can't understand the thought process behind a female narrator for a m/m series. None of the side characters are even female. Ironically, one of the things I like best about this series is that both of the leading males are truly male in each book. They are not just typical romance stories with the "female" role portrayed by a male. To then have all of the roles read by a female is just bizarre to me.

Who picked this narrator??
How could the performance have been better?
The narrator in this book is horrible!!! Why in the world would you get a woman to narrate a m/m book?? Was no one else available?? If the rest of the books are done by her then I won't get another one!! And that makes me sad because I was really looking forward to hearing them.

Off putting
Good short story although a lot of characters to meet at once.
But having a female narrate a M/M romance just doesn’t work well in my opinion.
I wish we knew why the author made the choice she did

I really enjoyed this.
I thought the narrator was good. He male voices were good. Shane and Lincoln are a good match and love the way they meet. HEA

Nice, but a bit predictable.
This was short and sweet ... a bit too short to do a whole lot of "showing", which means that there is more "telling" of who these characters are than I generally like. And while Lincoln and Shayne are sweet as their worlds collide, I felt like this whole story was just a platform for the next book, which I assume will be about Ryker and Grady. So predictable I feel a bit like I have already read book 2 as well, though that won't keep me from getting it to see if I am right.

I LOVE this series!
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes I would. I love this series and I'm so glad the first novella is now on Audible. This series is an instant purchase for me! If you like m/m stories with well thought out characters, you'll love it as well.
What other book might you compare Collide to and why?
The Ugly Eternity series comes to mind first. It's by the same author with the same narrator. Some of the characters from that series also show up in this one.
Which character – as performed by Hollie Jackson – was your favorite?
Ryker for sure! Hollie Jackson pulls off his sarcastic and non-trusting personality perfectly. And that British accent? Well, it just makes is deliciously awesome.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
At just over 2 hours, it's not hard to listen to it in one sitting. I'm on my third listening and I like it more each time.
Any additional comments?
Even for such a short listen, Collide is well worth the price. This author/narrator combination is always an instant purchase for me.
