Summary

Faking a relationship with an injured hockey player had never been on Eliot's to-do list. When he's sent by his editor at Cocky to interview the newly out hockey legend Danny Harper, though, he gets a little more than he bargained for.

Eliot has been stuck writing a men's fashion and grooming column that no one reads since he started at Cocky - a men's lifestyle magazine - a year ago. Desperate to prove himself, he takes the assignment to interview Harper, even though he couldn't necessarily hold a hockey stick the right way up in an emergency.

Danny turns out to be nothing like he expected - a lonely man who's missed out on a lot by being in the closet rather than the overconfident jock Eliot expects him to be. As much as he doesn't want to be, Eliot finds himself drawn to the other man.

When Danny proposes they fake a relationship to improve his image, Eliot jumps at the chance - not only does he need the money, but his curiosity about Danny demands to be satisfied.

With Danny struggling to get through the season on a busted knee and Eliot digging up the story that could make his career, can the two of them admit their real feelings and find their happy ending?

Contains mature themes.

Easygoing sweet love story

Sweet M/M sports romance following hockey player Danny Harper newly ‘out’ as he meets and is interviewed by gay sports reporter Eliot O’Connor. Eliot isn’t in fact a sports reporter, but his editor sent him because he was gay, this did in fact ease Danny’s nerves. Although they hit it off and get along (doing a stellar interview), there is no insta love. They keep in contact and at the recommendation of Danny’s manager they start a fake relationship, during which time their friendship blossoms, and of course turns into something more. An easygoing sweet love story, no angst, a lot of chemistry and a little drama. I love it, and I loved Danny and Eliot. Joel Leslie narrated both parts beautifully.

Not for me... but maybe it’s some for you

I simply couldn’t finish this story. I know a lot of work goes into writing a story, then to make an audible ( I absolutely respect all of that) ... I just could not listen to the weird accent the narrator was using. It was making things confusing. This could have been a fantastic story; according to the reviews, it’s a steamy romance. For me, I could not listen to the whole story. I’m sorry! 😞

Low angst romance

This was a very low angst, fairly high steam love story that followed a predictable story arc. Once you’ve given up the disbelief and accepted that the fake relationship is necessary, our two MCs fall in love over the span of the story in a reliable manner.

There wasn’t anything inspiring, but it was a nice story with some lovely feelz.
I don’t think I would have stuck with this book had it not been for the narration of Joel Leslie. He gave Elliot a fun accent and kept me giggling and wanting to see what he’d come up with next!

Cocky

Danny and Eliot make a great team. I enjoyed the back and forth the learning to trust and the honesty these two share.

It was an interesting book one I was able to get lost in. I am kind of looking forward to the next to find out about Ben.

Though this book had hockey in it, it wasn’t really the center of attention which I enjoyed.

Joel does a great job with narration accept he likes to go breathy at times and it can be distracting. Other than that I enjoyed it.

Adorable and hilarious!

I don’t think the author knew much about hockey and team management but it didn’t matter because this story was great. I adored Danny, but Eliot made me love this story. Joel Leslie really brought him to life.

had potential but didn't deliver

This was an ok book, which is sad since it had so much potential. Unfortunately too many plot points and things that the reader probably wanted to experience in the book were off the page and not actually in the book itself. Because of that, I can't give this one more than 3 stars.

However, the narration was pretty good. My main concern with multiple POVs (my favorite) is when there is a single narrator. That narrator needs to differentiate the voices enough to make it seamless. Joel delivered on that.

good read!

this is a simple love story of reporter needs athlete and falls in love. I like the story in general I didn't like the narration that much it just fell off and I usually like to Joel Leslie so I don't know what the heck is up with that. I say give it a try for yourself.

Delightful!

I don't hide the fact that I Love Romances. This audible was so very romantic in a delightful sort of way. It was also very sexy, I would say close to erotic. Yet, at the same time, it felt wholesome and family oriented. I know that you can't have both erotic wholesome together, but that's what this book felt like to me. So much Love. So much trust.

I have to give a shout out to the narrator because I felt that she was very entertaining and perfect for this audible.

Thank You, Sean Ashcroft and Joel Leslie for sharing this story. It was truly delightful.
