About this listen

Being kidnapped by aliens is only the start of Jade's problems. Thankfully, her rescuers, an alien race known as the Clecanians, are willing to protect her, but she has to stay on their planet for one year and respect the rules of their culture - including choosing a husband. Jade refuses at first but decides to play along until she can find a way back to Earth.

Theo, a scarred mercenary who prefers a life of solitude, is stunned when Jade selects him as her husband. After years of being passed over, he never imagined he would be chosen and neither did anyone else. Only one explanation makes sense...the curvy enticing female must be a spy, and Theo's determined to break her cover using any means necessary.

As Jade and Theo are forced to spend time together, their chemistry becomes undeniable. But neither can afford to bring love into the equation, especially since Jade seems determined to go home. After all, she can't possibly stay here, right?

great story with a swoon worthy hero, voice actor was enjoyable to listen to. will probably relisten to this again some time

fantastic all round

Really enjoyed Theo and Jade’s story. Despite some minor inconsistencies I still find the story gripping and addictive. I still want a Theo and I would love to visit that planet.
The spice was hot hot hot (specially the chasing). Just wish the Clecinians were less human like, but I understand it’s part of the story.
Amazing narration, but I wish there was a female narrator too.
Free on audible plus catalogue, but also totally worthy of my money (that is why I bought the 3 first books).

Just as good the second time around

The story was well thought out and well written. Not a genre I’ve ever explored before feeling the theme could easily become cheesy, however this book didn’t convey that at all. Sure some of the explanatory initial scenes felt a bit forced. The backstory was needed but it felt cramped in a way that could have been more seamless throughout and more nicely incorporated by hinting and revisiting when needed deeper explanation. Once it was done though the story flowed nicely. I wouldn’t mind the plot twists being less obvious but can also see that maybe they were just a means to an end and not the main focus like the romance,
Also an homage to male love interests that are manly AND soft, in contact with their emotions and man enough to admit to them and not only brutish and toxic male-like, well done there,


Narrator had a great deep voice (something I personally like a lot) and even though he read the female parts in character they didn’t get too over the top squeaky but stayed just right to portray the women through out the book,

I’m not a fan of the pregnancy trope but luckily it wasn’t in my face.

waited for this book and it didnt disappoint at all, it was worth the wait.. it had the romance and a comedy side to it also.. well worth the credit .. just got to wait for book 2 now.
