About this listen

Sophia never thought she was unlucky until she was kidnapped by aliens. Twice . . .

Sophia had simple expectations for her planetary tour. She assumed she'd see the sights, meet new people, and fend off her boredom. She never thought she'd end the trip as an alien captive. But here she is, the guest of a grumpy, sexy, warrior king who looks at her like he's not sure if he wants to kill her, or claim her as his own . . .

Sikthand hadn't planned to take the stubborn little human hostage. But with political tensions at an all-time high, he had no choice. He would unflinchingly use her as a bargaining chip to secure better relations with the new Tremantian ruler. He would not, however, fall prey to her charms. No matter how tempting she might be . . .

When Sophia and Sikthand realize how far their enemies are willing to go to grab galactic power, they're forced into an unlikely alliance-and possibly a marriage of convenience-to protect their people. It's a good plan, too . . . if they don't do anything irrational along the way. Like falling in love . . .

Contains mature themes.

I am completely obsessed with book 7 of the Clecanian series. I was maybe 3 chapters in to it when I sent a voice note to the friend I've been buddy reading this series with and said this book had the potential to be my favourite of the series and turns out I was right.

It picks up where we left off in book 6 with Sophia being left behind in Vrulatica under the watchful rule of King Sikthand. Sikthand is broody, fierce, menacing, dangerous and damaged thanks to his upbringing and life as King and the dangers and betrayal he has lived with because of that. He is instantly drawn to Sophia despite his major trust issues and can't help but want to watch her any chance he gets.

I ate this book up with a spoon, the slight Beauty & The Beast feel to it, the stalkerish tendencies Sikthand displays, his obsessive, possessive, jealous, protective nature towards Sophia from the start was just EVERYTHING! Him watching her through the mirror yearning for her, the longing and how he quietly does things for her made my chest ache! I loved Sophia's character, she wasn't a pushover damsel in distress, she had strength, curiosity, she didn't jump to conclusions, she based decisions off what she had learned since arriving on Clecania and the way she fought for herself and for Sikthand just delivered what I needed it to. The chemistry and build up between these two was slow burn perfection! The spice was incredible, I am a vibes reader and this all around ticked all the boxes for me and I had an absolute blast reading it. Stephen Dexter you once again knocked it out the damn park with your performance and listening to you bring Sikthands dirty mouth to life was 👨‍🍳💋 so thank you for that! 🌶🌶🌶

Best one of the series, I absolutely loved it. I hope they'll be more, there's so much scope for more 😊

Excellent!!!

Love the Clecanian world, and all that is happening there. Victoria manage to balance the main characters personal feelings and background well with the politics and world building. In this book we get to see yet a new place in the planet with its own, vastly different set of costumes and culture, the aliens in this place look peculiar too (even if still very humanoid). This place is more brutal in many ways and finally there is a tattoo parlour 🎉🎉🎉 I want to see more humans going there for a tattoo.
The romance was slow burn and the tension was delicious. And our couple get a hea 💕💖💞
I'm very curious to see what happens next considering all the political moves made in this book.
Rheago needs his own hea too.
Great narration.

This time we have an alien king 😍

It absolutely is up there as one of my favourites. Sikthand is the dark, brooding male you all want in an MC and Vrulatica is the perfect, dark and almost gothic setting for his happy ever after.

Narrated to perfection as always.

Didn’t think it could get better than its predecessors, but…
