Summary

Just round the corner from St Jarlath's Crescent (featured in Minding Frankie) is Chestnut Street. Here, the lives of the residents are revealed in Maeve Binchy's wonderfully compelling tales: Bucket Maguire, the window cleaner, who must do more than he bargained for to protect his son. Nessa Byrne, who's aunt comes to visit from America for six weeks every summer and turns the house - and Nessa's world - upside down.

Lilian, the generous girl with a big heart, and the fiancé not everyone approves of. And Melly, whose gossip about the neighbours leads to trouble in the form of a fortune teller, 'Madame Magic'...

No one rivals Maeve Binchy for stories of warmth, kindness, love, loss - and life not always turning out as expected.

Insightful stories with loveable characters.

It takes time to get used to rhythm of short story format but it is worth it. A great collection.

Good read even though it's short stories

If you could sum up Chestnut Street in three words, what would they be?

I'm not a fan of short stories but still thoroughly enjoyed this collection from the master story teller herself!

Loved it.

At first I was disappointed it was a book of short stories but I loved each one. Highly recommendable.

Pleasant collection of short stories

This is a collection of short stories about the residents of a street. Nice easy listening to do housework to.

Irritating

I didn’t realise these were short stories. Very difficult to concentrate long enough because they are short and often there is no apparent ending. Please make it clear if the book is one story or a compilation of very short ones.
