About this listen

Now available as an unabridged audiobook, Cherub: The Recruit is read by Simon Scardifield.

A terrorist doesn't let strangers in her flat because they might be undercover police or intelligence agents, but her children bring their mates home and they run all over the place. The terrorist doesn't know that a kid has bugged every room in her house, cloned the hard drive on her PC, and copied all the numbers in her phone book. The kid works for Cherub. Cherub agents are aged between 10 and 17. They live in the real world, slipping under adult radar and getting information that sends criminals and terrorists to jail.

I remember not being a fan of books and when my mum handed me this book when I was 14, I was hesitant. Since then, I’ve become much more of an avid reader as a result. Going back over these books in audio form now as an adult and it’s bringing back many a good memory.

Highly recommend! Audiobook is also really well done

Enyone who has read HIVE will also love cherub. Except it is better than HIVE. This is the first in an extraordinary series of gripping books. I would recommend it to enyone. (It is also like young bond or even James bond, just for younger people).

Like HIVE

This was my second time finishing this book but my first on audible. The narrator does a brilliant job at getting across each character to the reader. Characters are so emotionally attaching aswell, the narrator really helps with this too. I'm sure I will come back to this wonderful book by Robert Muchamore. Until next time..

Amazing Read

What made the experience of listening to Cherub: The Recruit the most enjoyable?

I loved how its all the time intresting. There is not 5 minutes of story that you are not intrested of lissening.

Who was your favorite character and why?

James, I cant say that I totally like the guy, because sometimes he can be real brick. But hes intresting, you want him to be a good guy, and sometimes he fails.

Which character – as performed by Nathan Stewart-Jarret – was your favourite?

I liked all characters. I had read the book before and now when I lissend it I didnt feel once that "this character shouldnt sound like this". So i think it was very well read.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. I didnt have the time, but I did lissen it when ever possible. It ended too soon.

Any additional comments?

Love the book. So sad that you dont have the othere episodes of this series.

Best teen spy story ever.

Fantastic narrator, brilliant story, looking forward to the second book in the series! It would appeal to fans of the Alex Rider series, and James Bond!

If you could sum up Cherub: The Recruit in three words, what would they be?

Fast. Exhilarating. Real.

What did you like best about this story?

The beginning when James arrives at CHERUB, and the Fort Harmony mission.

Have you listened to any of Simon Scardifield’s other performances? How does this one compare?

All great. He is a brilliant reader for the CHERUB series. He gets the atmosphere right and nails all the characters so well. Makes you feel like you are there!

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The characters are like ordinary kids but you feel for them as well.

Amazing book, brilliantly read!
