Summary

It’s time to put away silly ideas about whether or not you should be an alpha and accept that it was never up to you in the first place. You can’t protect what’s yours unless you claim it and take your rightful place.

Chase Coleman is content with the life he’s made for himself as sheriff of a sleepy little West Texas town. He might have walked away from his role as the alpha-apparent of his home pride, but he didn’t regret making the choice to live as an out gay man.

Paxton Summers could see that Chase was the alpha of the town’s shifters, whether he wanted to accept the title or not. Once he realizes that he and the sexy sheriff are fated mates, it becomes his mission to make Chase see he never had to choose between his destiny and being true to himself because Copper Creek was exactly where he was meant to be.

Chase just needs to see that he hadn’t left his future behind at all. Instead, all along, he’d been chasing fate.

as great as the ebook

The story is always full stars, because if I wouldn't like the story as ebook, I wouldn't listen to the audiobook. The performance from the narrator is also very important for me. I can't listen to a lot, because my English as a non-native-speaker isn't so perfect to follow a whole story over hours, when the narrator speaks too fast or too sloppy. Normally I have to SEE the person, who is talking to me in English. Kenneth Obi is one of the top 5 narrators (so far) for me, I can listen without break and have no problems to follow. I'm just not yet finish with the book, but I listen enough to give a review. PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!! To my ratings: 5* - very very good it's like an A+ 4* - very good and will be often re-listening it's like an A 3* - it's more then a one-time-listening. it's like a B

Loved it

Chase is going to be Alpha but takes a job as Sheriff in a small town and has picked up Shifters on his way. When the new human baker turns up to town Chase knows he is his fated mate. Paxton is on the new journey and sees Chase and wants the best for him. Great story can't wait to continue the journey

omg

I love the story, the town is great, the writing and narration both make me feel like I'm a part of the town and it really does seem like this magical little place. I'm very happy with it and excited for the next book. BUT Spoiler Alert The sherif is an idiot. his mate is the new baker and everyone, the baker, the town members, his old pride, his housemates, the flipping Seer. and his own internal mountain lion, are all telling him that he's the Alpha and he needs to make it official and also claim his mate and yet he's still like "oh no, what do I do" and honestly it's really annoyingly frustrating. Also, I love the flirty dirty talk and all, but if I hear 1 more "I need you inside me", I'm going to throw my phone out a window.

Great series starter

I love a good shifter story and this one has a little of all kinds of shifters. Chase is a small town Sherriff ( man in uniform *wipes sweat* ) that left his hometown to go to college and the academy. His father had tried to hook him up with another clans daughter but Chase had refused to go on his own path. Pax left St. Louis after a break with his ex and selling his half of their restaurant to move to the small town in Texas to a recently vacated bakery with a welcoming town. I loved all of the unique shifters in this book from wolves to squirrels and even owls. Not often do you find the small shifters but I loved it. The characters are unique, the storyline good and I cannot wait for more. I loved the narration by Kenneth Obi. He had such great voices for the characters and always adds excitement with tones. I highly recommend this if you like shifters!

A somewhat different shifter story

Great story, great characters, great narration. I’m really curious about the other clan members and their significant other. Hopefully we’ll get them soon!

I am continuing to love the audio books that I'm choosing. This is my first from this author but did really enjoy the book so I thought it would be just as much fun to listen to. It was even better.

can't wait to read more of this world

Jackie James is a new to me author, but I’ve listened to a lot of Kenneth Obi’s books and I also am usually fond of shifter stories so I was interested in checking out this book. It was a fairly short listen and I think my review will kind of be short, too, but I am glad I got a chance to check out this book. What I like about shifter stories is that the author can build up their world the way they want, and I always find the variations interesting. In the Copper Creek Shifters series, I believe the story takes place in the not too distant future, but one of the characters discusses the troubles his gay grandfathers had adopting his dad. It seems in this future there isn’t too much discrimination for being gay. And over the time that has taken place, the shifter community decided to reveal itself to the human world, and now the two groups live side by side, peacefully; for the most part. Well, Chase’s father (the alpha of their mountain lion shifter pride) did have an issue with Chase being gay, and when Chase refused to skip college and marry an omega female, he was kicked out. Chase believed there was a “fated mate” out in the world for him and there was no hesitation for him in leaving. After going to school he ends up in a town filled with all different types of shifters. Chase is joined by his cousin who is also a mountain lion shifter, two wolf shifters, and a female squirrel shifter. The town also seems to be filled with different types of shifters. They all seem to want Chase to claim them as a cabal but there are worries that it will cause more trouble than good. Because a human anti-shifter group is gaining power, and there are also other packs/cabals who won’t take kindly to a new leader in the area. I definitely can say I enjoyed the listen, it was a pretty straight forward love story, without much in the way of angst for the two characters, but I didn’t feel the full development of their characters. I couldn’t always get a good feeling for who they were besides this fated love between them. I really like the set up of the world and what is happening around them. I am sure there will be more conflicts for the newly formed cabal to come and I look forward to listening to/reading more about the other characters in this series. I would recommend checking this book out, and I thought the narration by Kenneth Obi was spot on.

Heartwarming

This book was sweet in the way that the Alpha and his mate find each other. The fact that the narrator allowed you to hear the differences in the various tones was awesome. I can't wait for the rest of the series not only in audible but in written format

Great world building here!

I really enjoyed this story. Chase, the protective Alpha and Paxton, his fiesty, but caring Alpha-Mate. Kudos Mr. Obi, you kept me fully engaged in this story, and I especially enjoyed your Alpha voice for Chase!
