Sensitively developed story very well told

Jon very cleverly Lays out all of the facts in the tragic case of August Ames, it is an insightful listen, as various angles of the seedy world of porn are investigated in depth.

I think it’s very respectfully done and the narrative and story line is very clear and fair. There are certainly no winners in this tragic case. Highly recommend

Insightful

August Ames is just the red thread linking the insights to the messed up world of porn. The industry attracts problem people and everyone of the people interviewed reveals in some way their culpability in destroying the lives of them self and so called industry friends.
They are on the dark edge of society so we conveniently ignore them....if they were college kids we would be in uproar about their mental health challenges and suicide rates.
Ronson knows how to hook the listener but overplayed the cheesy....”then something happened “ technique! Recommended :)

So sad!

Very well put together!
So sad, and the research and investigation that went into the making of the audible was excellent.
Very informative and interesting.

Fascinating and Moving Insight

After listening to all seven episodes I was left feeling very sad at the death of August Ames, a woman I had never met and previously knew nothing about. Jon Ronson and his producer skillfully bring to life the desperate circumstances that led up to the death of August Ames. I was left feeling that there is really nothing glamorous about this industry especially in terms of human cost as so many of the people that fuel it are ultimately damaged by it. Social media would also appear to have a lot to answer for.

Gripping

Another brilliant slice of fringe investigative journalism by Jon Ronson, this time focussing on a tragic death within the LA adult entertainment community. Very moving and sad in places. Some of the interviews made my skin crawl. A well put together documentary. Not for the faint-hearted!

Fascinating and emotional as always Mr Ronson

At a festival Jon Ronson once described his voice as effeminate; a more accurate description would be relaxed, collected, calming, clear and purposeful.
Any whim this chap chooses to research and present is always worthy of my time.

I don't know if I made it to the end

This series started well. By half way through I didn't care and wished they'ed all die.

Gossip, bitchyness etc

Like a palette cleanser after some heavy books, but this went on and on and the story could have been told in half the time.

A bunch particularly pleasant people who really are nobodies, all so wrapped up in their own self importance.

However still a fragile life lost undoubtedly.

Insightful

Another sympathetic and well researched investigation by Jon Ronson . If you enjoyed his previous work, you will appreciate this. I listened to it all in one go.
