He'd hoped after reuniting with his father and exploring his relationship with Colton, he'd have some to settle into his new life. Instead, he's asked to investigate the attacks.

After inspecting some of the fallen Indian towers, he realizes the British occupation may be sparking more than just attacks. And as Danny and Colton unravel more secrets about their past, they find themselves on a dark and dangerous path - one from which they may never return.

Good, but a cliffhanger

I can't give this book anything less than 5 stars, because it is one of the most amazing things I've ever read. That being said, I wouldn't recommend listening to this until the third book comes out. The ending is a thousand times more painful than the first one, due to a major cliffhanger at the end of the book. Other than that, if you enjoyed the first book, you're bound to like this one. It had perhaps a bit too little romance for my taste, but was just as suspenseful as the first book.

So Fun

And what a gorgeous ending. The book definitely ramps up, like the first one did too. Beautiful sequences all throughout but they come closer together in the last 20 minutes.

I loved:
1. The rich & diverse set of characters & settings
2. Colton, being so brave!
3. “Time shivered”
4. Getting answers in book 2! (Like for real why can’t this happen more often)
5. Everything go buy this book right now

Spectacular Story

This is a story set in a fully realized world with characters who are believable in its context. Danny's struggle to find the right path is fascinating while Colton's journey of self discovery while searching for Danny in a strange country draws you in. This pair and the other characters have history and motivation towards goals.
I have found every bit of it so compelling and I'm on the hook for the next one as soon as possible.
It seems ironic that the book is about time and time is what separates me from its conclusion
Performance is thoroughly enjoyable adding to the story and never distracting from it.

A Deeper Story Than Expected

Wow! Tara Sim did not disappoint with her follow up to the already exciting Timekeeper. Chainbreaker, while sadly having less of the love story than the first book, is a great plot and character novel. Normally in a middle book of a trilogy nothing happens, but I felt like this book gave us a few very important answers, introduced major new characters, and added great depth to the characters we already knew. It was great to see more of Daphne in this novel, and Danny is a very relatable and entertaining protagonist, but the best thing for me by far was getting to see Colton take a more active role in the plot. Getting into his head and seeing his character grow and learn was one of the greatest things about this novel.

As for the performance, if you liked Gary Furlong in the first book, you are sure to like him again here. I think he is great, especially in his portrayal of Danny.

Can’t Wait for the Next Book

What a great series. This book was hard to put down. Ended with quite a cliffhanger. Thank you Ms. Sims for a captivating and original story.
