About this listen

Chef Wyatt Blake is finally ready to move on from his thankless job. He gets no wiggle room, zero praise, plenty of abuse, and on a good day, he might only spend 12 hours in the Terroir kitchens.

A friend of his recommends a private chef position, but despite the boost in pay, Wyatt doesn’t want to babysit some spoiled, rich LA family. Imagine his shock when the family isn't a Kardashian clone but Ryan Flores, the only professional baseball player to ever come out of the closet.

Ryan is also at a career crossroads. His team’s management wants to see his more responsible side, which means no more late-night hookups and no more adrenaline-charged stunts. When his agent suggests he find a fake boyfriend to give him an air of domesticity, he’s only reluctantly interested. Until, Ryan goes to a local bar and spies the cute private chef he’s supposed to be interviewing the next day.

Maybe a quieter life wouldn’t be so bad, as long as Wyatt is part of it?

Wyatt believes Ryan could be more than just a crappy boss, but he isn't sure about leaving the kitchen for the life of a professional boyfriend. Especially when he wants the reality so much more than the fantasy.

Catch Me is a contemporary gay romance, and while it is the second book in the Kitchen Gods series, it can be listened to as a stand-alone.

Fake boyfriend is always a hit or miss for me but I really enjoyed this one! I love books with cooking aspects. Add in the sports star too and you have one steamy combo!

Fun fake boyfriend

I loved these fun, sexy characters Ryan and Wyatt have great chemistry, but misunderstanding, poor communication, and some subterfuge on Ryan’s part leaves Wyatt disappointed and almost derails any chance they have of finding love for real. It takes quite some time before the cause of Ryan's high-flying adrenaline junkie persona is explained, but when it is, everything makes more sense. Wyatt is caught in the cross-fire, wanting more with Ryan than a fake relationship, but trapped by his own fears of disappointing his failing Nana and falling in love with someone who can't or won't love him back.

The narration was great and really made the characters come to life.

I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook at my request and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Great characters; took a while to understand Ryan

Both the author and the narrator were new to me. I struggled with the narrator at first but LOVED the story the author wrote. I will be sure to pick up more from this author and go back and read book one of this story.

great story

I love me a fake boyfriend story and although not the best I’ve read it was enjoyable.

Ryan and Wyatt get into things pretty quick, Wyatt is just down for a one time thing but Ryan has ulterior motives. This didn’t sit with me very well, there was a lot of manipulation going on at the start and I did feel sorry for Wyatt.

I did like the way the story developed however and we saw how these guys were falling in love with each other albeit without saying anything to one another. I did find their relationship believable despite the rocky start.

Wyatt Baker is a new narrator to me and I really enjoyed listening to this book, the voices were good and distinct. He was really able to make you feel the ups and downs of this romance.

Which means that Beth Bolden is a great writer! If an author gets me to the stage that I actually want to do physical harm to a character, it pretty much means they’re believable.

I loved Wyatt, I could even forgive him for letting Ryan treat him like a fool as he was such a nice bloke! Ryan, on the other hand was a very frustrating chap to say the least. I understand the way Wyatt felt about him but I’d have smacked him in the face!

I enjoyed the narration, I would listen to more of Wyatt Bakers work.

I want to punch Ryan!
