In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert's there are few. So begins this most beloved of all American Zen works. Seldom has such a small handful of words provided a teaching as rich as this famous opening line of Shunryu Suzuki's classic. In a single stroke, the simple sentence cuts through the pervasive tendency students have of getting so close to Zen as to completely miss what it's all about. An instant teaching in the first minutes. And that's just the beginning.

After 25 years of 'sex, drugs, bad behaviour and haute cuisine', Chef and novelist Anthony Bourdain decided to tell all. From his first oyster in the Gironde to his lowly position as a dishwasher in a honky-tonk fish restaurant in Provincetown; from the kitchen of the Rainbow Room atop the Rockefeller Center to drug dealers in the East Village, from Tokyo to Paris and back to New York again, Bourdain's tales of the kitchen are as passionate as they are unpredictable, as shocking as they are funny.

Summary
What is Zen? What are its doctrinal principles? What is its purpose? These are just some of the questions this audiobook will answer.
Zen is a methodology of the spirit, conscience and mind that can be adopted by anyone, anywhere and at any time.
Zen is a practice that needs to be experienced, not understood. Perhaps for this reason for us Westerners it may seem difficult, but it's actually simpler than you might think.
In this audiobook you will discover the different kinds of meditation, the Mindfulzen, the difference between detachment and non-attachment.
This incredibile audiobook will:
- make you think and feel in new and different ways
- make you grasp the essence of what is around you
- help to take your life into the path of awareness
- help you to adapt to life's inevitable changes
- teach you how to nurture a mindful happiness in your daily life
Zen is found in every moment of our life, and the quality of our life depends on the degree of awareness with which we live it.
Doing meditation, eating well, having fulfilling sex, having a garden, walking in Zen mode are all ways to feel good.
Curious analogies between East and West and pop references makes this audiobook both a pleasant and an interesting listen.
At the end of the audiobook we find experiences, stories, and anecdotes that call for a more detailed reflection.
Suitable for everyone, even for those who are completely fasting on Eastern religions.
Enjoy the listen!

It's helpful guide for Buddhism. This book will not only briefly take you through Siddhartha’s story on how he became known as Buddha but will also give you the basics of Buddhism. With this book, Buddhism will become more than just the statue of Buddha in someone’s garden. It will help lead you down your own path of enlightenment. Especially this book is easy to understand for beginners.

Good book
This is another well thought out and beautifully presented guide on Buddhism. I have been interested in Buddhism for some time and when I listen a trilogy of books that featured a Buddhist, it rekindled my interest and I decided to study more. This was one of two books I bought for beginners. This book went into more detail. It was easy to understand and answered many questions I had about Buddhism.
